How do I feel about a client sending me a large playlist???? 🤔

I don’t think large playlists make a DJ a Jukebox. Not sure why so many DJs feel this way, but I welcome requests lists. I want my clients to feel represented and part of the celebration process.

In the private event space, a client should be able to hear music they like and share specific songs they want to be played. It’s why we are there; to show them a good time the way they want to celebrate.

The reason why playlists don’t make a DJ a Jukebox is that they…

👉🏻Don’t choose the tracks I select from their playlist.
👉🏻Don’t choose the order of the songs.
👉🏻Don’t choose how they are mixed.
👉🏻Don’t choose other songs I compliment their selections with.
👉🏻Don’t choose requests from family and friends.

I ALWAYS have creative freedom to do what I do, or I don’t book the job. That’s always communicated with ANYONE who books me.

It‘s also excellent to cherry-pick while discovering new music or be reminded of songs I may have forgotten about. At the end of the day, the creative process is still mine. I’m not offended or threatened by clients who know what they like. 💯👍🏻 I’m here for it.
