Well folks, we did it.



The man in the first picture is Ishvi Aum, owner of Aum Construction, truly a visionary, currently leaping into a very grand and difficult creative pursuit and bringing a whole gaggle of the luckiest folks with him. We are so very grateful!


In the second picture is a very important member of the crew who humbly coached us through a perfect firing.


One of the very best moments of firing our kiln is to sit back and watch the chimney after the final stoke, passing around thank you’s and hugs and smiles. After so much work, energy and commitment we basque in the glow of it all.


I will check in next week when we unload the kiln and please take a look at our stories and highlights for cool hikidashi videos!

Hello again from the last graveyard shift of our July firing. ☠️

This picture is from earlier today when we first began stoking every door of the kiln.

The kiln has been super hot throughout this firing and it’s been a slowing and holding game.
Which is a good feeling, although keeping us alert. This is a somewhat new challenge helping us to gather missing pieces to the puzzle of wrapping our heads around this incredible kiln.
Tomorrow is our final day! Day 7

We’ve been stoking inside the kiln for about 28 hours and cone 10 is dropping 🥳.

Tonight we are going to have a communal Korean BBQ dinner with some of the crew and a few new guests.


The kiln always attracts friends and family, acquaintances and strangers, and provides a unifying experience with plenty of time to bond and share.

Taking full advantage of that magic while staying focused and in tune with the kiln is key. Listening, watching and questioning while also relaxing and trusting.

The kiln doesn’t well respond to panic or hurried decisions. It teaches us steadiness.
