Just a few FYI’s ☑️
Pre-season is currently in full swing, and memberships are coming in strong. There is still some time before we head out to clean the trails, but opening season is fast approaching. Over the Memorial Day weekend, we will participate in the Town of Patten Memorial Day parade, and your participation is welcome. On May 16, the Patten ATV Club will host its annual community clean-up event, and we invite all community members to join, regardless of their affiliation with ATVs. We plan to open the trails for the season during the Memorial Day weekend and will provide updates on all upcoming events.

As we close out an incredible chapter for the Maine Snowmobile Association, we want to give a truly heartfelt—and well-deserved—thank you to Mark Chinnock for his extraordinary service as President from 2024–2026.

To say Mark has been dedicated to the MSA would be an understatement. For more than a decade, he has been a driving force behind this organization—serving as Western Region Vice President, Trails Chair, Executive Vice President, a member of the Steering Committee, and ultimately President. At every level, Mark has led with passion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to Maine’s snowmobiling community.

Mark didn’t just show up—he stepped up. Time and time again. Whether it was advocating for our trails, supporting our clubs, or helping guide the Association through challenges and opportunities alike, his impact has been lasting and meaningful. His presidency leaves a strong foundation that will benefit the MSA for years to come.

While his term as President comes to a close, we are incredibly fortunate that Mark’s story with the MSA is far from over. We’re grateful that he’ll continue to stay involved, and we know his leadership and experience will remain an invaluable part of our future.

We are excited to announce that Matt Stedman has been elected President and Eileen Lafland as Executive Vice President. We congratulate them both and look forward to the next chapter of leadership for the MSA.

ATV Safety Class was a big hit! This was sent from our Instructor, Frank Roy. "
The East Branch Sno-Rovers and ATV Club hosted an ATV Safety Course on Saturday, April 18, at the clubhouse in Medway.

The curriculum focused heavily on safety, including the use of protective equipment such as helmets, pre-ride inspections, and the importance of the owner’s manual. Students also received instruction on navigation, first aid, trail etiquette, environmental protection, and survival. As part of the survival training, each student was provided with the book, “YOU ALONE in the MAINE WOODS.”

The course further covered the benefits of club membership and a comprehensive review of ATV laws. Guest speaker Officer Gary Lakeman from the East Millinocket Police Department discussed legal requirements, noting that most accidents result from speed, alcohol, and inexperience. He also reminded participants that the town speed limit is 25 mph unless otherwise posted.

To demonstrate their proficiency, all students were required to complete a fifty-question exam. Every participant passed with a score of 96 or higher.

We would like to thank the club’s kitchen staff for providing lunch, as well as the members who assisted with instruction and cleanup. Attached is a photograph of the students with their new ATV Safety cards."
