I am working on updating past projects on the website and as I do that I’m. Going to share some of those here as well.

Here is some of the process of the coffee table in our earlier post. First picture shows how it arrived in the shop. It needed to be flattened and we checked the moisture level in the center. Then it needed to be stabilized and cracks filled with epoxy, 1.5 gallons worth. We also brushed epoxy on the bark to stabilize it and make it more durable. For the base we chose a design that would not draw your attention from the top. It is a custom bent laminated cylinder of 7 ply bending plywood finished with a pigmented lacquer.
Lots of steps and sanding. If you’ve ever worked with end grain you know how much extra effort there is.

Here is a special coffee table project. Friend and longtime client had a large red maple taken down at his home two years ago. Although it sadly had to go he had the vision to do something with it and give it another life on the property. He had it slabbed and found a place to dry it in a climate controlled environment for a year and then handed it over to me (literally, it took both of us to move it). Through many steps we turned this beautiful ~90 year old tree into a great center piece in his home. More process pictures to come.
