The Delta table saw in my shop has a 5 hp. 220 motor. (96" cast iron bed w/router table).
I use it daily to perform many different tasks.
About a month ago, it just didn't turn on (I could hear a click when I threw the the switch). This caused much concern, a replacement motor is about $500.
It has magnetic and low voltage switches in a box on the outside of the saw's case. The wires from the plug and to the motor pass through a rubber grommet in a hole.
Today, I finally got around to taking off the cover of the box. Inside I discovered a mass of chewed up fiberglass insulation and 5 wires chewed completely apart.
Damn mice. I'm grateful I was able to diagnose and fix it. Instead of having to invest a lot more money into an already very costly machine I spent only a half hour.
Small wonders....made this beautiful day more to celebrate.
