Another experimental piece, and my first piece to carry the Roycroft Renaissance mark. This is a larger version of the inspired tray I posted earlier, measuring 16”x11”. The bottom is made from an extremely wide piece of quartersawn white oak that measured almost 12” wide. This one is spoken for but I can make more!

Experimental piece. Playing with epoxy colors a bit with this Roycroft inspired tray. Haven’t decided whether or not I want to part with this one yet. What do you think?

I am honored, humbled and very proud to share that I have been accepted as a Roycroft Renaissance Artisan.
For those who know my work, the American Arts & Crafts movement has always been at the heart of it — not just as a style, but as a philosophy. Thoughtful design, honest materials, and visible craftsmanship have been the guiding principles for the pieces I create. I never could have imagined when I started woodworking as a hobby 15 years ago that I would have the opportunity to do it full time, much less that I would be associated with an organization with such a history so well respected and deeply rooted in the American Arts and Crafts Movement.
Thank you to everyone who has followed, encouraged, supported, purchased, shared, and believed in my work. This feels like an important milestone and I’m very excited for what comes next.

Not sure when I became the large plate rack guy but I’m happy to wear that hat. This 6’ long work in progress is a scaled down version of a one of a kind 8’ long Gustav Stickley plate rail originally made for the Vancroft dining room. There was some guess work on the design since the only thing I had to work from other than the dimensions was a single auction photo from Rago back in 2007 (see last pic). Still lots of work left to do but I’m really looking forward to seeing this one hanging in its new home.

One of the pieces coming with me to the Arts & Crafts Conference next week..hanging shelf made from a design that originally appeared in a 1905 issue of Gustav Stickley’s magazine “The Craftsman”. This one is shortened a bit but otherwise true to scale. Really great design and it was a pleasure bringing it to life.
