☕️ Meet Pantone’s 2025 Color of the Year – Mocha Mousse.

Is it just a color, or does it capture a mood? With its rich, earthy tones, Mocha Mousse (PANTONE 17-1230)
reflects comfort, warmth, and harmony in what Pantone calls “an ever-changing world.”

To me, it feels like wrapping your hands around a steaming cup of coffee, finding a little calm amidst the chaos.

What does Mocha Mousse mean to you?

Back in the early 20th century, the Roos Manufacturing Company of Forest Park, Chicago, stood as one of the most prominent names in cedar chest production—rivaled only by the Lane Furniture Company (formerly the Standard Red Cedar Chest Company), which crafted cedar chests from 1912 to 2001.

Founded in 1871 by Edward Roos, the company began humbly, producing curtain rods and wooden boxes. But it took a little while for their reputation to grow. By 1918, Roos was creating exquisitely designed cedar chests, earning recognition as the largest chest manufacturer in the world! These "hope chests" became treasured pieces, shipped, and admired around the globe.

However, history had its challenges. World War II disrupted production, and by 1951, the company was sold, officially shutting its doors by 1955.

Fun Fact - While Lane Cedar Chests include serial numbers that make it easier to date them, Roos Cedar Chests are a little more mysterious—there's no straightforward method to pinpoint their age.

That brings us to my latest project. I'm working on my first Roos Cedar Chest makeover, with its 'birthday' a mystery. Since I can't determine its exact history, I'm officially giving it the ultimate 2024 glow-up!

Stay tuned!

Well, it's official. Brain Rot is the Oxford Word of the Year for 2024!

We've all been there—endless scrolling, bingeing trivial content, and feeling that mental fog set in. Oxford defines brain rot as "the supposed deterioration of a person's mental or intellectual state, especially viewed as the result of overconsumption of material (now particularly online content) considered to be trivial or unchallenging."

This phrase saw a 230% surge in usage in 2024, hitting a collective nerve in the era of constant online stimulation.

What are your thoughts on this year's "word of the year"? Does it reflect 2024, and how does this choice bode for the WOTY 2025?

(The good news is that repurposing furniture does not contribute to brain rot!)

Twice in one day!

Yesterday, there were two collisions involving planes at Boston's Logan International Airport. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but many passengers headed to their Thanksgiving celebrations are stranded in Boston. Here's hoping they make it to their destinations in time for the big feast! 🦃✨

Speaking of Thanksgiving, I'm racing to finish this project before Thursday. How's your Thanksgiving prep coming along?

Who doesn’t love a little Audrey Hepburn wisdom to kick off the week?

"Art is not about perfection or praise. It's about discovering who you are, letting your soul breathe, and growing through every beautiful mistake and honest attempt." 🎨✨

Happy Monday! Take a moment to create, explore, and find joy in the process—because that’s where the magic happens.

Did you know only 2% of the world can multitask successfully?
(Phew! That’s a relief ).

For the other 98%, a checklist is the way to go. Start with the most important tasks and tackle them one at a time.

And for me, painting the insides of drawers is often on my checklist when repurposing a furniture piece. It’s those little details that make all the difference. 🎨✨

I saw this, and it got me thinking - What’s your BIG dream? 🌟 And do you dare to dream even BIGGER? 💭 Happy Thursday!

Did you know that veneer has been used in furniture since ancient Egyptian times? 🤯

If you've got an old veneer dresser lying around, give it a modern twist with some paint and new hardware and use it as a bureau, media console, buffet, or bathroom vanity! And, of course, the result will be sustainably inspired and beautifully designed!

A perfectly imperfect find!✨

This repurposed petite side table caught my eye with its quirky detail—the right edge is longer than the left. Was it intentional or a happy accident? 🤔 Either way, it's what makes this piece truly special.

And let's be honest, who doesn't love a good junk drawer? Whether big or small, it's a home essential! 🏡
