This may be my best weaving of a caned seat. Note the underside & how well the cane looks. As I progress, the quality of caning is as important topside, as underneath.

A very beautiful Oak chair from maybe 1880’s to 1920’s. Note the 3 rungs all the way around.

Two rocker seat finished this week. The back needs recaning on one rocker, but “customer knows best” or DOES NOT! Anyway this may come back again & cost them more.

Notice the swoop seat in the one rocker. Have to get the tension right to maintain the curvature.

Holes go diagonally through side & front rails; then vertically down through back rail.

Making me really think, & a far reach to thread holes. Two of these to do.

First caning since returning from Snowbird 2026 vacation.

6 caned chairs ready to go home. 1 hand woven & 5 pressed seats.

13 projects arrived within a few days of our return. People anxious for me to get back to work I guess. Now about 2 months work here & 3 more customers bringing more.

Pretty dining chair with newly hand caned seat. Delicate back with lots of detail.

This seat was drilled with an extra hole in front left corner. A novice caner would struggle over how to use the hole & why it was drilled. I just used my eye to maintain alignment & used or ignored the extra hole as necessary.

The underside is probably THE BEST BOTTOM I’ve ever woven!

Of course there are NO-Knots, also folded corners

Ready to go back to Ackermans Furniture Service in Burnsville Mn.
