🚨HOMEOWNERS: Watch out for real
estate scams 🚨

One of my client’s moms called me today after receiving what seemed like a strong cash offer on her home. After I called to talk to them, I didn’t have a good feeling at all. Fortunately, with the help of our IT team at Coldwell, we were able to do some digging and catch a few red flags before it was too late 😮‍💨

If someone is trying to buy your home, not every “buyer” is legit. Scammers are getting smarter, and knowing the warning signs can save you from a costly mistake.

Here are a few red flags to keep in mind:🏡 Offers way above asking price with no questions asked💰 Pressure to close quickly or send money upfront📧 Communication only through email or messaging apps (no calls or in-person meetings)📄 Requests to sign documents without proper verification🌍 Claims they’re “out of the country” and can’t meet.

A real buyer will respect the process, provide proper identification, and work through trusted professionals.

🔍 Protect yourself:
✔️ Verify the buyer’s identity and proof of funds
✔️ Work with a licensed real estate agent or real estate attorney
✔️ Never accept overpayments or send money back to a buyer
✔️ Avoid signing anything you don’t fully understand
✔️ Confirm all wire instructions directly with your title company
✔️ Don’t rush—legitimate buyers won’t pressure you
