Kilted Moose Outdoor Furniture I started out by wondering if I could build something I saw on the internet that I liked.

Had a productive weekend. Made sure to take a moment to remember friends lost over the years. But mostly hunkered down in the shop. I was feeling pretty good about getting a set of of whiskey rockers close to done. Then I got 3 more orders! 🤯 Good thing I have a stock pile of barrels!

I've gotta say, my is still the game changer it was when I bought it 8 years ago.

An awesome customer sent me a pic of the barrel cabinet I made for him. Plus, I always appreciate customers that tip in brown liquor!

Got a bit of an upgrade in tablesaws. It might take a bit to figure out the dust collection on this tablesaw, but it's definitely more powerful than my old one.

Time to make chairs!

Finished up the large Jack O'lantern barrel this weekend. I added some more around all the cut outs to not only water proof them, but give them a cleaner look too. I may add another coat of spar urethane to the outside of the barrel, it will just add to its longevity.

Ran a barrel head under the laser for the first time in the new enclosure. It was great not having the shop full up with smoke when I do these now! 🤣 And the fire extinguisher is nearby too.

I had a new customer reach out to turn a Buffalo Trace barrel into a cabinet. The bottom shelf has a lazy Susan while the upper one is fixed. Urethane inside and out after a considerable bit of sanding. The dark stain on the shelves really makes them fit.

And finally. Took apart two more barrels to fulfill a chair order. Well, its a pair of chairs. Sixty or so staves, sorted, scraped, and sanded.

So very close! I sprayed the inside with black to add some water proofing and a dark back drop. Ran the cord thru the back and wired the light, which I painted black, then installed the real flame bulb. Looks pretty sharp right? Some sanding, and a lot of urethane to go!

Just some clean up and lots of spar urethane left to do!

Picked up a bunch of barrels from today. When wine barrels are used for beer, they're typically not great for furniture, but I'm kind of creative. My small jack o'lantern was a big hit at the this past weekend. So, I made a full size one! The 4th picture gives you an idea of The size difference between the 15 gallon and 50+ barrel I did today.

After that, I worked on the enclosure for my and laser. I need far better smoke control in my shop for when I do barrel heads.

Finally, I'm repairing a barrel head for another local small business owner. The pieces shrunk considerably, giving to large gaps. I glued the pieces, then will upgrade the backerboard as well.

Today I got a floating barrel stave done. Red oak for the parts behind the shelf. The lighting isn't great to show off the engraving, so the self proclaimed "trademark lawyers" will have to wait.

To answer the question, off course a guy who does wood working part time in their garage has the legal team at his disposal to work out such things.

One of these sets of chairs is 2 years old, the other I built this month. Can you tell which set is which? We had a great time at the event last night. Today I delivered the chairs to the high bidder.

Then it was back to work. This tiki bar top broke in transit, in part because the underneath wasn't sealed in epoxy and the wood shrunk while the epoxy didn't. I had to sand down the broken pieces by hand to get them to fit again. Then re-epoxy them into place. After that, I poured epoxy on the bottom, prepped the top and poured that today. It's certainly not perfect, but it's definitely more structurally sound than it was when it was shipped. I'll give it a few days to fully cure, then it'll get a coat of polish.
