What a wonderful start to the New Year! We had a packed house with 12 people joining for this tea experience.
We enjoyed a Duck Sh*t Dan Cong Oolong, a Da Hong Pao Rock Oolong, an old tree Yunnan Red, and the grand finale was a 1999 old tree Shou Pu'er

Chinese tea culture possesses a language of appreciation rooted in the natural sciences, which includes the arts of medicine and life cultivation. The manner in which this language is shared around the tea table extends beyond mere connoisseurship. It offers access to a vast cultural repertoire, the unfolding of the subtle mind of the East. More than a means of conversational inquiry, this language is tacit, experiential, situated within the body. It yields to inner landscapes, vistas of the spirit preserved in art, poetry & practice that constitute the intangible cultural heritage of tea.

Join us in Boulder on Saturday, October 18 & 19 for a three-part series of Pu'er tea tastings and open conversations presenting the five pillars of Garden to Gaiwan (ecology, craft, storage, brewing and appreciation) within the broader context of philosophical, aesthetic and spiritual inquiry. All events will be curated to include a variety of fine teaware, an exquisite selection of incense and background music.

1. Saturday 18th at 10:30am - An exploration of Jingmai Mountain terroir through sheng & shou Pu'er, red and white teas. Experience the sensory and energetic expressions imparted on the same old-growth leaf material across different artisanal craft and brewing styles. (Limited to 8 participants) $54-

2. Saturday 18th at 2:30pm - A deeper layer of Pu'er appreciation featuring vintage selections of sheng & shou, to include our 2014 Original Ecology and Spring 2011 Chenyun (Guafeng Village 'Chawangshu'). Chenyun is sourced from the coveted old-growth gardens growing in the remote forests of Guafeng Village in the Yiwu Mountains. Accompanying these teas, a conversation around tea as ecological practice through the language of Daoist natural science. (Limited to 8 participants) $54-

3. Sunday 19th at 4:30pm - A rare opportunity to sit in contemplation of three very special teas. The cumulative effect of this succession of aged teas imparts a profound sense of chayun, or resonance. Join us for this extraordinary opportunity to enter into the sublime realm of tea appreciation. We are limiting participants so as to enhance the experience for participants.

Two weeks ago was our Japanese tea class where we focused our exploration on teas outside of matcha. We went over a summarized history of tea in Japan, tea processing methods, and of course brewing these different teas! We think the cold brewed sencha and Gyokuro were the favorites of the day

This concludes our tea classes/events for the summer! After we finish moving and settling in to a new house in North Boulder we will resume classes and events in the Autumn 🍂

Events will be posted on website and in the WhatsApp group!
