I’m sure you all have noticed the widespread brown and dying pine trees all over Cheyenne and county.
According to my tree guy, the county extension agents say it’s needle miner beetle and pine tip moth combined with fungus. He said: “Entire tree rows are dying…it will be devastating…”
Sounds like the larvae causes the tree to be very susceptible to a fungus that is also going around.
If you have needled trees—pines, ponderosa etc.—PLEASE begin spraying asap, as these beautiful trees are literally dying by the hundreds in Laramie County and homeowners will have to pay thousands to have them taken down.
We fight hard to maintain trees in our climate, let’s work to keep the ones we have!!
Between 2010 and 2020, the mountain pine beetle wreaked havoc on Wyomings forests. That epidemic appears to have subsided, but now the spruce beetle and emerald ash borer are becoming a threat to Wyoming tree populations.
