It feels good to be able to get back to woodworking! This was a door rework. The plate glass sidelights were removed. The frame was reworked to provide structure around the existing doors to prevent sagging as they originally had no support other than top and bottom attachment. To add to the challenge there is a 1 inch twist in the door frame opening due to poor wall framing so there is some creative molding work in the final product that makes the twist almost unnoticeable. The original doors were redone adding insulated glass to the existing leaded glass and two new sidelights in mahogany were created with matching leaded glass and insulated glass. The left hand door also got a Dutchman repair to eliminate an unnecessary deadbolt hole. The only thing left is to adjust the right door so that it latches properly (if this rain ever ends). It saddens me to know the owner plans to paint the exterior to match the original but from the inside it will be gorgeous (really should have gotten a picture).
