Another reason why this is such a special space - the creative energy and love we have received from our neighbors who have literally helped us build this place by hand and by locals. lives two blocks away and built our one-of-a-kind easels; .habits_ lives on property and makes our amazing loose leaf teas; and , a neighbor from down the street made these amazing handmade glazed coffee mugs. For weeks, I had been searching for the right mugs to use at the cafe. I ordered several online from different companies, but none of them made the cut. They either weren’t the right size, right style or right texture. Then one day, just weeks before finishing the cafe, Carol showed up at the front door with a box that she wanted to gift me for the cafe. This was the first time we ever met, and I was too busy at the moment to open the box, so I thanked her and got back to my work. Then days later, I opened the box and my heart melted. Inside were half a dozen mugs that Carol made herself, each one beautiful glazed in different colors. They were everything I was looking for. Since then, Carol and I worked out a deal to make several dozen more for the cafe. The first batch was just delivered last week. So next time you come in for a hot tea or espresso drink served in one of these mugs, take a moment to enjoy it, and know that it was made by hand, with love, by locals. AI can’t do this, people.
