I spent....alot of time on this one. Lol I almost passed it up. However the price was $10, making it just too hard to walk away. Especially being a solid wood French Provincial.

Now I wanted the chippy white paint to really pop. But the light wood underneath? ..... It really wasn't going to stand out when distressing.
I needed contrast!

So this is a common paint trick that I used... Using a contrast of colors (in this case, a dark grayish-blue under a soft white) just really made the piece stand out. And all the little distressing techniques you have? This trick will show every single one of them off πŸ˜‰πŸ‘Œβ€

Saying goodbye to one of my favorite vanities. I had it in my home for years, but now its time for someone else to enjoy. This one I didn't paint myself, but I most definitely can appreciate another's craftsmanship πŸ‘
Very traditional shabby chic white over dark wood.

Speaking of vanities, I just got a hold of another dark wood one...but trying to decide to either leave it in its beautiful wood color, or create that chippy paint, farmhouse look... ❔

I found a new favorite color πŸ’š
For this bow front dresser, I decided to use a vaseline-distressing technique, pulling multiple paint colors through of white, dark wood & a soft sage green.

And speaking of painting techniques... By next week, I'll be posting my first How-To painting videos! I want to show you how to 1.) create your own homemade chalk paint. 2.) Distress & layer paints 3.) Finishes: waxes, poly & antique finishing. 4.) Easy restoration hacks & tips.

These are the most common questions I get asked. All of which will be available soon, so you can start on some home DIY projects yourself πŸ˜„ Maybe its time to give your dresser that much needed makeover. Chances are, you have it in you & all you need is a little paint πŸ˜‰

Vintage Green πŸ’š
This is one of the most heavily distressed pieces I've done in a long, long time. I love the "well-loved" look. It's a painting technique I really don't see too often, yet I'm always obsessing over!
It definitely more our a dramatic shabby chic, with chipped vintage green over white. I don't think it'll last longer than the weekend, but I'm definitely going to be sticking with this style for a while. So, more coming!

Well everyone, after a VERY busy year, it feels so nice being back in my element. I love restoring & recreating.
I'm also making up for lost time!! So I'll be posting EVERYTHING that's been going on in the store. There have been 3 newer pieces this week alone.
Plus, I've been exploring with new painting techniques 😊 Its going to be a good ending of a very good summer β˜€β€πŸŒ»

This piece is a very beachy style. I used about 4-5 painting techniques to create this look. And I wish so badly that I had a better camera to capture all the incredible details....but my phone will just have to do.

Well it took some time to get back in the grove of things, but I finally got a few much needed makeovers. I always love vintage lucketts green. (Thank you Miss Mustard Seed!) I'm also a big sucker for layered paint jobs. Normally I use my usual oil or vaseline technique, but this time I was leaning towards the wet-distressed.

After this, I'm going to experiment with more heavily distressed techniques...just to see what will come out it ;)

Good morning everyone! I have quite a few major projects I'm going to be posting this month... A few I was up late last night refinishing actually.
Last week, I finish a real unique style of shabby chic on this lovely French Provincial. Some people call it beach wash chic, others called it Old Paris chic. Whatever it is, it's turning heads πŸ˜‰

Hope you enjoy! Now excuse me while I get some morning coffee!

One of my favorite transformations this year, was an old glass cabinet that I found at a flea market. Just look at those before & afters...Raggedy vs Quaint. I just placed it in the shop yesterday, but before I could even post it for sale, it sold!
It sure is amazing what a little paint can do...

Here is last weekend's sneak peek. And I have to admit, this piece made me a little more nervous...it was my first time trying silver leaf. I normally don't experiment a new technique on such a big piece, but I'm so glad I did ❀
Though I didn't use much, those bits of champagne-silver leaf really took this piece to another level.
Just moderately distressed, with a hint of glam on the edges. It's something I definitely want to experiment again! In the meantime, this one's all set & ready for her next home.
