Live Edge Exclusives

Live Edge Exclusives Design and production of live edge furniture and décor pieces for the home or cabin Andy has been working with live edge for a little over three years.

There are lots of different style options available for your wood furniture and accent pieces. Live Edge Exclusives specialize in the use of live edge material (slabs) that highlights the natural shapes, grain and colors of hardwoods. The use of epoxy adds contemporary design and color features for a more modern vibe that will be a focal point of your home or cabin for decades. The options associa

ted with live edge pieces are nearly endless with each piece being truly "one of a kind." It started with two oak floating desks, then two live edge outdoor bar tops and five drink-rail tops. After relocating to Locust, North Carolina in 2022, the blank canvas of a new house reignited the love affair with live edge through the production of seven floating shelves, a 7' x 36" floating desk, and a 12' foot floating walnut countertop serving as craft and homework space for our young daughters. Andy also developed unique processes to create antler mounts, fly tying desks and wall art. Then the family and friends started asking for serving/cutting boards, desks and dining room tables which has led to the establishment of Live Edge Exclusives in 2023. Live Edge Exclusives is based in Locust, North Carolina and the shop is co-located with JPRO, a well known supplier of kiln dried, live edge walnut, oak, maple and a variety of other species. This relationship means, in most cases, the customer can select their own affordable slabs for any of project from wall art and serving boards to 12'+ long dining room tables or conference tables.

What happened to May? I blinked and schools are out, pools are open, and I had to turn on the AC in shop pour/finish room. Ohhhh, wait a minute. I should show you WHY I had to turn on the AC.

I've teased you all with glimpses into some of my spring projects but haven't shared the final glamour shots. I'm still not ready to share all the glamour shots, but I will share a few finished pieces from the shop as a little Friday jolt to get to the weekend! Enjoy!

Well Memorial Day 2026 is here, which means I'm headed to in Maggie Valley, NC! This will be my 3rd year at this awesome festival and it has become my favorite show of year. The vibe here is unlike any other show I do. The folks from Maggie Valley Fly Shop have a whole lot to do with that and the scenery is just awesome and so relaxing.

This year we are raffling off a full size, stand-alone maple fly tying desk with a vice and vice stem included. I'll also have a few booth giveaways including one $300 and one $1,000 gift certificate PLUS it's time to put some of my booth display pieces in permanent homes, so come make a reasonable offer and you could have a new dining table, coffee table, wall art or wine/charcuterie server!

Tomorrow must a finishing day, which means another delivery day isnt far off! Stay tuned!

Just another Saturday in the shop! These will be a set of shelves with a very special purpose, a memory corner for a lost-to-soon loved one.

The clients selected a spalted maple slab with a "Carolina Blue" mica powder from and finish. Spalted maple is one of my favorite types of wood types to work, the color variations are stunning!

There are not many folks out there that can say they are both a published, PhD stream ecologist AND an award-winning functional-furniture artist. But as of Saturday night, I can say it!! Woohoo!!!!!

Thanks to all the attendees of the 2026 venues who not only took the time to visit my booth, attend my presentations, and talk with me about my craft but then took the time to vote in the Consumer Choice Awards. Your efforts led to Live Edge Exclusives Fly Tying Tables winning the "Artist" category!!

I'm truely humbled and so very proud that my pieces have deeply resonnated with so many of you!

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

This is just so cool! A new client has commissioned a "yakisugi" dining table, which is a 400,000+ year old Japanese method of charring wood to improve weather resistance and all but eliminate the prospect of insect infestations. This has been a "bucket list" build for me for a while. I've done some pieces like this in the past, but each build is very different so I'm working up a couple sample pieces to highlight different finishes and epoxy river types. One sample will entirely encase both slabs in clear epoxy and the other with will have a black mica powder river and be entirely encased in clear epoxy. I've aleady poured the epoxy for the samples and they are curing now. I'll share more updates as the process unfolds. Yes, charring the wood is very satisfying, it's almost therapeutic!

Today has been a bit nuts in the shop to say the least! I poured 15 gallons across three different pieces including the initial pour of this 10 ft x5.5 ft conference table. Can't wait to share some of the other sample pieces that got started today. They are part of another large, super-special project that I can't wait to tell you about. Time to babysit these pieces for now, more to come!

Thanks Sue Sizina for hanging in there through the whole day and capturing such great photos and videos!
