Due to circumstances that I will not elaborate on at this time. Don’s Upholstery’s hours of operation will be significantly changing. Monday thru Friday hours are 8:30am - 12noon I will be returning phone voicemails daily after 1pm. The shop is not closing! But these changes are what is necessary at this time. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Memorial Day! A day specifically set aside to honor the many who served our country unselfishly. And the many men & women who are still serving state side and abroad. I will always value “united we stand , divided we fall”.

I’m starting to see again, the rising number of calls as to re-sewing a cover where an air bag has been deployed. My answer to such questions remains still NO! Although I honestly have no means to substantiate or support my answer it is my clear understanding that in the case of a cover with a air bag in the side of a seat, the thread the factory used in conjunction with perhaps the machine that sews it , is not available to the common upholstery shop. Thus meaning we cannot replicate or repair the cover. I go further to explain I would never voluntarily put someone or a family member in harms way.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted anything. 2025 started out a bit on the busy, congested and rough side to say the least. I’ve been focusing more on getting longer evolving projects done and out the door than concerning myself with taking the time posting pictures. I’m extremely grateful and appreciative of all the Facebook support over the years. Here is some pictures of current projects in progress.

For the first time in 22yrs I will close the shop @ 4:30 pm on July 3rd and take a long weekend break. I will re-open Monday July 8th @ 8:00 am. I will not be answering phone calls or messages on voicemails or text until Monday! Thank you!!

I would like to take a few moments to explain why I have decided to decline taking on any more boat projects. In a nutshell you often invest more time and in some cases have to replace or repair damaged parts that are necessary to make them functional and withstand more years of use, than you can honestly charge for. That’s without it becoming a take advantage of a situation because I can. This deck for a boat is honestly my last one. I made it a bit bigger and as you can see has some wrinkles that ordinarily would drive me crazy but when you combine the harsh waters and the hot sun it should shrink nicely, and keep it from shrinking to the point of splitting apart at the seams.

The more intricate side of upholstering. If you have ever found yourself questioning why you can’t see and feel the spring impression it’s usually because they only put a thin felt over the top of the springs before the decking and material go on. Thus leaving it to fall between the springs over time.

So if you’re interested just come on in & pick one up for yourself or a friend. I have been to their facility and it is a top notch place to go race or just be a supportive spectator!

22 years ago today dad you gained your wings! I stepped into your shop just 2 weeks later to finish what you had started. My only hope is I haven’t disappointed you .
