Our Story so far...

Hello I am Patrick. Born here in Wisconsin, nevertheless I’ve lived in more than a couple states over the years, most recently in Florida which is where I acquired my commercial sewing machine to work with leather. A website found me and started buying leather goodies from me until they acquired new management who promptly declared, unironically, that “Leather is Dead”. “No one is buying leather anymore” the guy tells me. So needing a new market niche, I answered an ad for a sewing machine operator at a boat cover/interior shop up north. For reasons unexplained that job lasted three days meaning the small 2-person shop would have to fold once the mom retired. What kind of probationary period is 3 days? Especially after moving 250 miles. Kind of spells doom for the future of that workshop so well-done! /s

I stuck with the concept though, happy to find something to do with my skill set. After a few years I left Up North to return to more sensible climes aka Madison which has been my home on and off since 1987. Driving down the beltline in Monona or North Around The Lake to Middleton puts a smile on my face seeing boat lift canopy after boat lift canopy hugging the shorelines. They are signs, like quartz veins to a gold miner, that there is work to be done. Not the least, washing seagull crap off those same canopies before it gets anywhere near my sewing machine for repairs.

So here I am, back in Madison once again waiting for the ice to thaw, along with my fingertips. I can’t wait for warmer days so I can get my workshop space reassembled. Which isn’t to say I hibernate all winter because there are lots of zippers that crap out come winter but this year around I was unable to set up and offer my services. Motorcycle jacket zippers or blown-out pockets? Hells yes! Snow suits/bibs needing new zippers? That too! An old hoodie? Well that depends on how much you love that old hoodie considering Walmart.

I do sail repairs as well, and I know there are a lot of sailboats in storage right now waiting for the right weather.
