Beaver Rim Opalized Petrified / Twist Palm / Pre - Palm Wood.
Un-known species. Un-named.

Found only in Wyoming. Not anywhere else in the world.
This unique permeabilized ancient wood dating back to when dinosaurs walked the land is totally special in the petrified wood world because of it's twisted rind structure. No other wood that I know of displays this wonderful twisted rind present in most high grade specimens. The outward fronds of this plant that traversed up the truck of these trees that we see even in current live palms of certain types closely related to this variation. Were laid over during a tsunami effect and then were covered by copious amounts of volcanic ash to seal them away in time until nature re-exposed them again for us.

This material will take a excellent polish if worked. But, this particular specimen looks very brittle. Most other stock is very sound.

This piece is 8 pounds 12 Ounces. I will offer this great specimen here for $150 plus shipping and transaction fees.

This material has been picked up since the 1930's when the Yellowstone Highway cut through the petrified wood deposit on Beaver Rim. Since then like Wyoming Jade. Hills have been plundered by dozens of hopeful collectors in time. Large specimens are extremely hard to find in nature anymore with most of the best ones found in Grandma's garden nowadays.

We are located just 12 miles south of Lander Wyoming in beautiful Red Canyon.

We do require a $50 fee per person, $100 per family for the tour/rock stock purchase, taxes included. You will be able to choose $50 or more in rocks to take with you. Please bring your own 5 gallon bucket. Restroom available.

Wyoming rocks average between 50 cents a pound up to $4 a pound with some exceptions.

The Wyoming Jade Maze has nearly 40 pallets full of old stock Wyoming Jades at only $4 per pound to choose from!

I have been buying Wyoming rock collections for nearly 15 years now. We are not your standard "Rock Shop" with rocks from all over the world. We try to stay exclusively with Wyoming rocks but we do have some rocks from neighboring states. We carry mainly 95% rough / all natural rock in stock. Great for those who have a big rock saw!
