My second laser project was a gift for the Bills Creek Community Center. It’s a piece of River Birch finished in Odies oil. I hope this is a piece that will last a lifetime.

We’ve got some exciting news!

Backwoods Slabs is now being featured inside The Finderie in Chimney Rock!

Seeing one of our pieces displayed in the window of such a unique local shop is something we’re incredibly proud of. What started as a hobby in the shop has grown into an opportunity to share our work with even more people visiting the mountains.

If you’re in the Chimney Rock area, stop by The Finderie and check out our handcrafted pieces in person. We’re excited to be part of such a great local business and grateful for the opportunity.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Backwoods Slabs along the way. We couldn’t do it without you.

A few months ago, we picked up this knife set, but it came stored in a rolled leather pouch. After seeing a similar idea on YouTube, I decided to build a display worthy of the knives.

This knife block was made from a spalted pecan slab with walnut legs, letting the natural character of the wood do the talking. The spalting patterns paired with the Damascus blades turned out even better than I pictured.

Couldn’t be happier with how this one came out. Functional, unique, and a great way to show off a beautiful set of knives.

I've been setting up my woodworking space on plywood and sawhorses for a while now. Last week, I built some benches and used the rainy Memorial Day to tidy everything up. It's starting to look like a real workshop.

By building a new shed for our slabs, we managed to free up a garage bay and currently have about half of our slabs on hand organized, consisting of maple, red oak, sweet gum, poplar, and walnut.

We cleaned the shop after 2 weeks 😂. Just a little saw dust.
