An Indiana National Guard soldier died early Saturday morning following a hit-and-run.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Sgt. Joseph Nordstrom during this difficult time.

Nordstrom, 30, served in the Indiana National Guard, including a tour in Afghanistan, and recently completed UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter repairer training.

Even after his death, he continued to selflessly serve his community and country by being an organ donor. He will save several lives with his donations.

A funeral service with full military honors will be held Saturday, March 3 in his honor.
