I Studied Fine Woodworking and Industrial Technology at the University of Rio Grande in Southeastern Ohio. I only produce pieces that will last a lifetime. It is quite rare to have an intact, original front door in Ohio that is 125-130 years old. For that wooden door to be round (the door is on the actual corner of the home) is even more rare. **just imagine 5+ generations of families and the people/stories this door has seen.

While I've gotten to refinish a bunch of meaningful furniture in the past, this one is different. This door is an historical piece of architecture in my small hometown in Ohio 🇺🇸. Although a private residence, it is in the public eye and viewable from the street.

Restoring things like this is a testament for the younger generation. It shows that when you care for something, it can and will last a very long time. It is not cheap. It is not throw away-plastic furniture. It is not AI. It is not painting over veneer that took a craftsman many days or in this case, likely weeks, to create.

It's intentional. It's thoughtfulness. It is working with your hands, eyes and brain. It's why I do this. To keep the craft of quality and purpose alive.

It is not just the materials that am I thankful for, but the clients that are looking for more than a transaction, that make this worth it. It's less of a purchase of some furniture and more as feeling like a deep connection to this planet through an exchange of trust, belief and openness with one another, all while using natural materials crafted by nature over time. I'm blessed.

This may seem cheesy to you, but I don't mind anyones perception of me. The character within a tree or piece of timber can be seen as a direct reflection to your own life. Knots, cracks, broken branches that have all healed with time are just stories you don't know about. So while wood is just wood, your neighbor and random people you encounter have everything going on that you know nothing about. Be kind, do what you love and don't forget to drink water, ya filthy animals.

This was a commissioned piece in hard maple burl with an ebonized white oak tapered stave base. Returning clients, phenomenal humans.

This slab comes tomorrow. 😵‍💫 While I reflect on past projects and how I've often said "this is the best/biggest/coolest or most rare material I'll ever get to work with", I cannot feel anything but grateful, as I have been wrong so many times. This walnut slab is definitely a "once in a lifetime piece".. and it is going to get cut into two pieces to become an 8' round dining table. 2 piece top, no live edge.

Oh and yeah..something about trusting your gut on passions in life and what you want to live for. Nobody's dreams are the same and that's great.

Since I mentioned how excited I am about my current projects in the last post, here's a video showcasing the richly figured walnut desk top.

I was given creative freedom for a new office space, so I pulled a bookmatched set of figured walnut slabs from my private stash and started laying the office out from there. The main feature of this office is the L-shaped desk, but there are so many more note-able things going in. Keep an eye out for upcoming updates about that, as I'm very excited to share what I've come up with!

Turns out the haters were, in fact, wrong.

I recently purchased this Walnut slab from for the commission of an 8' round dining table.

I haven't seen anything like this in my 18 years of building furniture, and I cannot find the words to express my gratitude toward the world about how excited and thankful I am. (even though my current project is equally fulfilling)

Thank you God, Thank you to my loud supporters and Thank you to the people that said "woodworking isn't a career", "what are you gonna do, make birdhouses?" and "woodworking is just a hobby"... you have fueled a quiet monster for years.
