📣 Please Join Us in Welcoming Kirklin’s New Town Marshal, Steve Jones!

The Town of Kirklin is pleased to welcome Steve Jones as our new Town Marshal.

Marshal Jones began his career in law enforcement in 1993 and brings more than three decades of valuable experience to our community. Throughout his career, Steve has served in both Town Marshal and Deputy Marshal roles in several small towns throughout our region and has also gained extensive administrative experience. Most recently, he has served as a Deputy Marshal in Rossville for the past five years.

Steve and his wife have been married for 28 years and are proud parents of two grown children. His passion has always been rooted in small-town policing, where strong relationships, trust, and community connection matter most. He values the close-knit atmosphere that makes small-town departments unique and is excited to become part of the Kirklin community.

Marshal Jones shared that he looks forward to earning the respect and trust of Kirklin residents. As a true people person, he genuinely enjoys connecting with those he serves and believes that positive relationships are at the heart of effective community policing.

If you see Steve out in the community or stop by his office, please help us give him a warm Kirklin welcome!

At the same time, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Brendon Bright for his six years of dedicated service as Kirklin Town Marshal. His commitment to our community has been greatly valued, and we thank him for the leadership and service he has provided over the years. We wish Brendon the very best as he begins his new endeavor as Clinton County Sheriff.

Kirklin is fortunate to have both dedicated public servants and a supportive community, and we look forward to this next chapter together. Welcome to Kirklin, Marshal Jones! 🇺🇸👮

It has been brought to our attention that there are individuals in our community knocking on doors for religious purposes today and that some residents are unhappy about it. While we totally understand, especially in this day and age, that it can feel intrusive and perhaps a little scary to some for a stranger to knock on your door unexpectedly, those canvassing for religious and political purposes are protected under the First Amendment and are NOT required to obtain a permit.

Please note that town ordinances are on our website, including our peddler permit ordinance. Here is the direct link to it: https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/kirklin/latest/kirklin_in/0-0-0-2848

While most of you are aware that we have a part-time police department that is not staffed 24/7, if you ever have an actual peddler, as defined by our ordinances, knocking on your door, feel free to contact us at 765-279-8786 and we will notify an officer if one is on duty.

Any questions? Please call Town Hall at 765-279-8786 or the Kirklin Police Department at 765-279-5198.

Have a great day, Kirklin, and I will be making another post soon to introduce you to our new Town Marshal!

The Town of Kirklin would like to inform residents that a binder is available at Town Hall for public review and feedback regarding recent stormwater and flooding concerns. Residents may stop by and share any comments or information they would like presented to the Town Council.

Additionally, and even more importantly, we encourage residents to speak directly to the Town Council about any stormwater or flooding issues they have experienced. Discussing concerns on social media does nothing to address the problem, but bringing those concerns directly to the individuals who can take action does.

The next town council meeting will be held on June 8, 2026 at 7:00pm. The deadline to be included on the agenda is Monday, June 1, 2026 at 4:00pm. No additional persons or agenda items will be added after that deadline!

If you are interested in speaking, contact Tara at [email protected] or call 765-279-8786. Not sure what to say? You can talk about flooding or stormwater issues on your property, expenses incurred due to flooding, inability to access your home or property, or any other related concerns or impacts.

We know there have been severe flooding issues at Sunshine Manor and Capstone, and we strongly encourage affected residents to come speak to the council about how these issues have impacted them!

We are also asking all residents concerned about stormwater issues to complete the following survey:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NJW22QG

Paper copies of the survey are also available at Town Hall for residents who would prefer to complete one in person. There will also be a QR code posted in our window, the post office, and the bank, that can be scanned with your phone’s camera to access the survey online. We are trying to make participation as easy as possible for everyone!

Your feedback and participation are greatly appreciated as we work together to address concerns within our community.

Take this survey powered by surveymonkey.com. Create your own surveys for free.

Congratulations to the Frankfort Police Department on this incredible and generous donation for K9 Rex!

This lifesaving equipment helps protect the dedicated K9 officers who work tirelessly alongside law enforcement to keep their communities safe. We love seeing this kind of support for the brave men, women, and K9s who serve every day. After all, none of us know if one day they may serve to save ours, our friends, or a family members' life.

Congratulations again on receiving this wonderful donation and added layer of protection for one of your valued officers!

Frankfort Police Department’s K9 Rex has received donation of body armor

Frankfort Police Department, IN - K9 Rex has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Rex’s vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of Fred and Greta S.”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,513 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1800.00, weighs an average of 4-5 lbs., and comes with a five-year warranty. For more information or to learn about volunteer opportunities, please call (508) 824-6978. Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. provides information, lists events, and accepts donations at www.vik9s.org, or you may mail your contribution to P.O. Box 9, East Taunton, MA 02718.
