A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO KEITH BROWN FOR WINNING THE 2022 ANNUAL WINYAH FLOUNDER SLAM!!! Also a congratulations goes to our 3 fish aggregate winner Frank Davis. We had a great turnout despite all busy schedules. We got it done again. Until next year, sharpen those hooks and tight lines to all.

With a slow bite, we had a great turn out and awesome fellowship.
Congratulations to Matt Locklear for the big fish bragging rights.
Matt is one of North Carolina's finest, being in law inforcement and with Winyah.

Congratulations to Josh Stuckey for winning the 2020 annual Winyah Land and Timber Flounder Slam!!! He eaked by me by couple hundredths of on ounce. We fished together and kept 14 flounder with these two 3.98 lb and 4.00 lb speed bumps.
Look forward to next year!!! Thankful for all the fellowship.

Yesterday, Forestry Association of SC President Cam Crawford and SC Timber Producers Association President Crad Jaynes met with SCDOT Secretary Christy Hall and other SCDOT officials to discuss increasing the truck weight limits for unmanufactured forest products to 90,000 pounds in South Carolina in an effort to remain competitive with other Southern states especially border state North Carolina. "We reached an agreement in concept to establish a pilot program," Crawford said.
Here’s a brief summary of the meeting:
1) The pilot program allowing log trucks to haul 90,000 pounds should begin in early March 2020
2) There will be an annual permit for primary roads
3) There will be a single trip permit, good for 30 days, for secondary roads
4) There will be no charge for the permits
5) Out of state trucks can apply for permits
6) A document is being prepared by SCDOT regarding the procedures for the new permits. It will be a few weeks before it is released.

Take a look at the different yields in fiber per year. If you are growing timber for profit, there is no comparison.

This photo from the Southern U.S. shows two trees planted 17 years ago. The smaller tree competed with 5,000 stems per acre, while the larger tree grew free from competition in a stand that was far less dense.
