This c.1810 Irish grandfather clock , a family heirloom, was totally shattered during shipping.
I was surprised and pleased that I was able to do most of the reconstruction using traditional animal hide glue. I reproduced the one missing section of base moulding.
Perhaps my most challenging project in 40 years, and the owner is pretty happy!
Moral: Remove the heavy clockwork mechanism before transporting these pieces.

This dog chewed 18th c. European chest was perhaps the worst case I have seen, exacerbated by old powder post beetle damage.
I was able to save all the surviving woodwork thru epoxy resin and artistic spot finishing.

Circa 1830 Biedermeier chest of drawers.
This arrived needing some replacement and repair of the fruitwood veneer that makes these pieces so distinctive and admired.
The loose and bubbled sections were reset with animal hide glue. The new veneer was resawn from an old block of cherry that I have kept for years. Shellac was used to coat the new surfaces. A final oil and wax polish finished the project.

Recently, Tarrytown Woodworks had the privilege of restoring an Artek stool, a testament to mid-century design excellence. Unfortunately, the stool had suffered significant damage. The veneer on the seat was severely water damaged, with sections missing and the surface warped. This project presented a unique challenge, requiring a careful balance between restoration and preservation to maintain the stool’s iconic design while ensuring its functionality and durability.

Solid Slab Walnut Conference Table Repair
This solid slab walnut conference table developed a nasty crack. So I inlaid two dovetailed patches to arrest the wood movement.

With the patches hidden underneath, the top surface was filled and finished with a hand rubbed oil.
