Our latest live edge project has been delivered! This 70x32” live edge guanacaste slab sits atop a whitewashed version of our Radian base. We used a penetrating oil finish, Rubio Monocoat and gave this a glassy smooth surface. It’s the perfect centerpiece table for our client’s oceanfront home.
Wowing clients is always a joy!

Coffee bar with hutch installed today! This lower cabinet we finished (minus drawer fronts) a few months back. The upper cabinet we just finished a few weeks ago. We were finally able to make the 2-1/2 hour trek to get it all done!
60” coffee bar with a 48” hutch to display my mother’s coffee mug collection. That and a themed mahogany cutout to fit the space, it’s any coffee lovers dream to have a dedicated space!

Our latest live edge creation is complete! This 84x32 guanacaste slab is absolutely radiant in this afternoon sunlight. So much so, I had to close the curtains to stop the glare!
From the custom stained base we finished a few days ago to the redheart bowtie accents, everything about this table looks amazing.
This table is being delivered to some trusted family friends, Becky Quast Vail and family, and I’m glad to provide a showpiece for their home. Imagine what this creation would look like in your space and ask us about making one for you. 😁

Our latest live edge creation is already in the works! It’s a 7x3 ft Guanacaste slab that is gonna be stunning for sure.
We built this awesome table base last week, our own design, and added some stain today —it looks amazing! We’re hoping to wrap up this build this weekend, so stay tuned.

A special gift for a special person. This 12x7 walnut and redheart box absolutely glows! Featuring a figured walnut bottom, there’s non-stop beauty on display here.
This is surprisingly only the second mitered box we’ve ever done, and it doesn’t disappoint for sure. And, as the engraving reminds us, in all that we do — “Serve the Lord with gladness” Psalm 100:2.

A new twist on a handy newborn accessory — a hairbow/headband/barrette hanger. Made from poplar and cedar, it features pegs (for headbands) and ribbon to clip barrettes.
This is our custom design — which is typical as we like to reimagine our creations to go beyond what you normally may find elsewhere. Credit to Katie Louise Reed for the awesome ribbon and flower work.

For you ladies (and gentlemen too) that happen to love the color purple, feast your eyes on this! This gorgeous purpleheart (Peltogyne) slab from Central America has some amazing color and character. The slab had a small knot, which we covered with a primavera dovetail key (a left over piece from our previous post), giving it a nice contrast. Many may have chosen to cut off the front edge, or simply make it an even surface -- but we preferred that more natural edge.
Although this slab won't stay this purple forever (it will turn a more brownish-purple as it ages), it definitely adds some "pop" to this otherwise more functional space. Thanks to Bobby at West Penn Hardwoods in Conover, NC for helping us pick out this piece.

Hello everybody, its been a while! We wanted to share some of our latest workings with you. We apologize for the lack of postings lately, but our owner had his social media account compromised. Thankfully, we are still here and still sharing our work with this wonderful community of people!
This Primavera (Blonde Mahogany) slab was made as a countertop for this 7ft dual desk built-in. Although we didn't build the desk, we did shorten it from its original 8ft to accommodate a new location. The top is actually 2 slabs joined together to get the full 25" depth needed for this unit. The grain is DEFINITELY better in-person. 😉
Tech failures can't hold us back -- pretty things are still in store.

We had our first media exposure go live and we’re super excited! We were featured in the inaugural issue of Camden Lifestyle Magazines new look!
Our latest dining table was delivered this morning to a client in Yulee. This 60” solid hardwood table is a staggering 2” thick and seats 6. It is finished in a “Briarsmoke” gel stain and clear-coated for protection.
This entire table was machined on our new computerized cutting machine that really opens up design possibilities and ensures the quality you’d expect.

We cut a 60-inch dining table today, and it was super easy! I think we will stick with this method. All in all, about an hour start to finish. Smarter, not harder...right?

Our newest shop helper is in and ready to go! This 5x10 engraving unit will now let us digitally design and produce furniture pieces! This really ups our game to make even better quality pieces for our clients. In addition, this will also open up slab flattening services to local clients as well!
Now to get our next dining table flattened and machined this weekend. We will post a video as this process will really be cool to watch.

Doc’s Designs, believe it or not, started out as a sarcastic answer to a request to build a piece of furniture -- by my own mother no less. It was October 2014 and I had built a small rickety shelf for my kids bedroom and my mother had seen it and replied that she requested a table for her upcoming birthday. Of course, being a person who appreciates sarcasm, I eagerly answered, “sure,” knowing good well it wouldn't happen...or so I thought at the time.
Over the next few days I mulled the idea and actually decided to go thru with it. I had a problem however, the ONLY woodworking tool I had was a miter saw with a ridiculously dull blade. A quick trip to the hardware store solved that, as I now had a table saw, sander and a few other useful items. After some hard work and a LOT of Youtube videos, the table was born as my first project.
Ever since that time, I’ve really developed a passion for working with my hands -- something that is truly a lost art these days. I’m entirely self taught -- and self motivated to create works of art for all my clients. Yes, I’ve gotten more sophisticated over the years with fancy contraptions and tools, but the desire to create quality products remains the same. This journey is not one that is a passing fad, but rather an investment in my community and the clients I’m privileged to serve.
