A few months ago I built some wall art out of left over pallet wood, I called it "diamond in the rough." I am happy to say, my wall art found a new home as a headboard, here's the finished product. Enjoy!

I decided to take a different direction in my cutting board builds. I still used oak 2x4's from pallets, but I wanted to embrace and showcase all the stained nail holes in the oak. This is the result, a beautiful cutting board that is randomly peppered with dark black nail holes. All the holes are filled in with a strong and durable epoxy. The dimensions are 19" x 12" x 1-1/2". The size of this board is based off of accommodating a brisket, so it is perfect for the avid barbecuer. I'm also inspired to do a large build with this technique, perhaps a massive dining room table.

As promised, here are two cutting boards that show the hidden beauty found within weathered pallet wood. The first four pictures show a cutting board made out of a blend of pallet wood and wood stripped from old furniture. The next four pictures show a cutting board made completely out of 2x4's from oak pallets. The final picture illustrates what the pallet wood looked like prior to transformation. Enjoy!

Cutting boards made from old and weathered oak boards. I added some black walnut to give a good contrast in color and sharpen the look up a bit. I'll be posting some more pictures later of an oak cutting board made completely out of a pallet wood to illustrate the the hidden beauty that can lie beneath the rough exterior. If anyone is interested in a cutting board, I will be producing more and the price is $75-125.

I had a piece of stair railing laying around my shop and finally found a use for it, turned it into moulding for picture frame shelves. I took the railing and cut it into 5' sections, then I cut the railing in half length wise. The frame itself is made out of pallet wood and used trim boards. Dimensions: 3' tall and 2' wide, with a 4" shelve depth.

When a client tells you they don't want a cheap plastic "no soliciting" sign, you build them something better. I have to give credit to modaindustria.com for the "no soliciting" portion of the sign. As for everything else, I used reclaimed wood and created a copper stain to make the sign pop.
