The getting-ready portion of the day is often where grooms portraits can shine. At Chateau Elan Winery & Resort, spaces like the suites and library create the perfect setting for a more tailored, editorial approach. Clean lines, darker tones, and structured compositions all lend themselves to portraits that feel intentional without being overly posed.

When I’m photographing grooms portraits, I focus on a mix of direction and observation. Adjusting a jacket, fastening cufflinks, or a quiet moment before stepping out of the room often becomes just as meaningful as the more composed shots,, bringing in personality and keeping the images from feeling too static.

Embrace the rain? Absolutely! Sometimes the weather does something a little unexpected...like pour down rain half an hour early. Faced with a limited time frame for photos and no ability to reschedule their engagement session, London and Adam chose to joyfully embrace the weather and dance in the rain at Columbus Botanical Gardens. And it was complete magic! Roses dripped with raindrops, blooms bent under the weight of the water, and these two laughed and splashed through the puddles.

Introducing the Ragsdales! This first slide completely encapsulates McKenna and Coleman's day in a single moment. Pure, unrestrained joy and delight. Even pouring rain couldn't dampen their excitement for their wedding day and it spilled over into everyone else. Who cares about getting a little wet when you're finally marrying your favorite person while surrounded by your family and friends in the cozy garden paths at Lillian Gardens? We laughed, we cried happy tears, and we celebrated McKenna & Coleman while dancing in the rain.

To the amazing vendor team who worked tirelessly to handle wet seats, room flips, and keeping everyone else caffeinated so the day could run smoothly, thank you.

Color can and will change the entire feel of your wedding day, and this kind of floral design proves how impactful it can be. Instead of staying within a narrow palette, layering in a range of tones like these blues, lavenders, and pastel pinks really brings home the bountiful garden aesthetic! It feels welcoming, expressive, and full of personality.

For couples planning their wedding design, this is something I always encourage you to think through intentionally. Color doesn’t have to feel overwhelming when it’s balanced well. Mixing softer tones with a few more vibrant blooms keeps everything feeling cohesive while still giving that rich, garden-inspired look.

It’s such a beautiful reminder that your wedding doesn’t have to follow a formula. When the design reflects who you are, you'll love it all the more.

Lindsey and Matt were stuck between two locations for their engagement session and couldn't decide: should they lean into the city-skyline vibe at Piedmont Park that Matt loves or the summery Hills & Dales garden dreams Lindsey was envisioning? I said, why not both?

We added a little time to their engagement session, scheduled appointments strategically to account for traffic, and boom - magic!

Proof that every so often, you can indeed have your cake and eat it too!

✨This✨ is what being fully present on your wedding day looks like. Not preforming for the camera, not thinking about your 'good side'. Just dancing, laughing, running through streamers, and living every single moment of a day you've spent months dreaming about.

This doesn't happen by accident or chance - far from it! This is what happens when you trust the person holding the camera before the wedding day ever arrives.

I spend so much time preparing and getting to know my couples, their priorities, how they want their day to feel, long before I ever walk through the door of the venue. All so that by the time the music starts and the streamers fly and your guests are all standing together in the same room to celebrate you, you're not worried about a single thing.

You're just there. Completely in it.

The photos will be beautiful. But the feeling you carry away from your wedding day (that you were actually truly present for all of it!), that matters just as much to me as anything I capture.

Elegance, warmth, and joy. Those are the words I would use to describe Josie and Mick, if I had to choose just three. Their engagement session at the Hills and Dales Estate felt more like play than work! The gardens in late spring have this fullness to them, with layers of green and soft blooms that create the kind of backdrop you don’t have to overthink.

What I loved about their session was how unhurried we felt. We meandered through the estate gardens, finding the perfect light to play in and chatting. This slow afternoon together out the most genuine connection, and with these two, I couldn't have asked for better. I can't wait to celebrate their wedding with them next year!

Introducing the Floyds! What was supposed to be a rainy wedding day at The Sixty Two turned into soft clouds and glimmering sunshine. Megan put so much care and thought into every aspect of her wedding design and spent two years collecting the perfect blue and white china vases to adorn the tables, each with their own story. I couldn't have asked for a sweeter couple!

I half expected Mr Darcy to come walking down the lawn. And while this editorial at The Swan House hosted by wasn't a real wedding, it allowed me to dream of what a wedding here would look like, how the laughter of guests might echo across the gardens, or the deep emotion of vows spoken in front of the grand fountains with all those you love best in witness. It makes my breath catch, a little, just to think of it.
