How it started... I have always loved home design and in particular classic furniture mixed with something unusual or unexpected. When I was facing an empty nest, I thought maybe I could use my bargain hunting ability to bring people together with a great piece for their home. I am a teacher by trade, but I wanted something different to take up my extra time (if you are a teacher, you might’ve chu
ckled at that). With the help of my husband and children who are often called upon (I know, I am Woman, hear me Roar...but I still can’t lift 130 lb. couch by myself), I started putting some of my finds at a flea market nearby called The Fancy Attic. I love good quality furniture, but I often will purchase something that is fun, funky, or just different. These items are closeouts, final runs, or customer returns, so I can offer you an item 25-70% off of retail, depending on how great a deal I got. So stop by the Fancy Attic on Wood Springs in Jonesboro (next to Big Lots) and take a look around; there are lots of other great vendors there. And if you like something posted on my page, message me your questions. Thanks for stopping by!
*Addendum* It is now Sunday, September 23, 2018. This post was originally started in January of this year and I started selling furniture and home decor in April of 2017. My husband has put up with a lot in the last 17 months, God bless him. I am still teaching, now in grad school, and continuing to help people furnish and decorate their homes. I just wanted to stop and say thank you to my husband, who puts up with excess couches, curtains, canvases, tchotchkes, and chairs, etc. spilling out into our daily life. I also wanted to thank my followers and sharers, now 500 strong, that help this girl keep it going and sometimes send me pictures of their new finds making their homes interesting or beautiful or comfortable, and sometimes all three. This is a fun part of my life, and Fab Frugal is soon to be in two locations, The Fancy Attic on Wood Springs and The Rusty Bell on Southwest Drive in Jonesboro.
5/18/19 Oh my Goodness! I just celebrated two years at the Fancy Attic and have now added a location at The Double B Vintage Market on CR 409! Fab Frugal now has 800 followers! Come by and visit!
6/15/19 Fab Frugal now has 900 followers!
4/1/2020 Well, I didn’t see this coming. Right now covid-19 is making things difficult and I am wondering will things return to normal in time for me to save this business? I know there are many that are in a worse position. This isn’t my primary income, and for many small business owners, that isn’t the case. I can’t imagine the stress they are under. I still love this part of my life and would be so sad to see it go. To celebrate the good stuff :-) Fab Frugal has over 1600 followers and (until now) has been self sustaining for over two years. Jonesboro Strong!
1/1/2021...still here and still loving selling furniture, décor, and helping people love their homes. Fab Frugal now has over 2500 followers!
11/22/21 It is the week of Thanksgiving, and as I contemplate a career shift I am just thankful for this part of my life. I do not know if all of 2022 will have Fabulously Frugal in it or not yet, I hope so. But I do know that I have made friends and connections that I wouldn't have ever made without starting up this "Fabulous" furniture business😎. I am feeling blessed and thankful. I am very thankful to the store owners for giving me the opportunity to be creative and enterprising, for all my customers, those who come by the store and those who follow, like, and share my FB posts. I appreciate all the new friends I have made and love to see the pictures of my special finds becoming your special finds. And as always, thank you to my husband and children who are oft called upon to assist in this endeavor. April 1, 2022-No, not April Fools! I am leaving the Fancy Attic, but will continue to share these awesome finds at the Double B Vintage Market! Please come visit me there🥰Thank You very much!
