Hello LMRC friends and family,
I'm sad to say that we lost another good one recently. A dear family friend and creative force and collaborator, John Hadley died this past week. John was a kindred spirit and full of quick humor and life and love. As a child, my brother and I looked forward to summers when John and his family - Judi, Jason, Jonas and Josh and a little later, Jamaica - would come to town. John was an artist and art professor in Norman, Oklahoma and spent summers in Nashville songwriting. He introduced us to musicians and writers; he wrote a play (called Boogers and Hangnails, if I recall correctly) that my dad put onto stage in an experimental theater space (our blind rooster played a part); he wrote the song "Hard Work" around which Dad produced another short performance at the farm. John brought so much imagination and laughter and so many friends -- and our wonderful neighbor Jennifer -- into the valley and our lives. We will miss having John in the world. His memory is a blessing and his creative spirit lives on full blast in his family and friends.
