SOCIAL WORKER II Northampton County Department of Social Services has a vacant Social Worker II position in the Work First Unit. Position requires working with DSS clients to enable them to obtain education, skills and training so that they may become economically self-sufficient. Requires in-depth knowledge of social work skills and excellent communication skills. Position also includes some Income Maintenance Caseworker duties. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Prefer individuals with innovative and creative ideas. Minimum Education and Experience: BSW from an accredited school of social work; or, four-year degree in a human services field from an accredited college/university and one year directly related experience; or, four-year degree from an accredited college/university and two years directly related experience. May consider applicants who qualify for lower social work level. Salary is based on applicant’s ability to qualify for full classification. The primary purpose of this position is to provide and/or arrange for an array of services for the elderly, handicapped, and disabled adults through the Community Alternatives Program. Subject to On-Call on a rotating basis. Requires in-depth knowledge of social work skills and excellent communication skills. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Minimum Education and Experience: BSW from an accredited school of social work; or, four-year degree in a human services field from an accredited college/university and one year directly related experience; or, four-year degree from an accredited college/university and two years directly related experience. Board of Social Services
The North Carolina Social Services Commission will make an appointment to the Northampton County Board of Social Services. The Social Services Commission will consider nominations at a future meeting.
The nomination period is scheduled from April 1, 2026, to May 1, 2026. Nominations must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 1, 2026. You may obtain a Nomination Form from the local department of social services office (DSS). The form must be fully completed by the nominee, signed, dated, and returned. Forms may be mailed, faxed, or emailed to the address below.
