Merry Christmas
About a year ago my wife, Katie and I were at an antique mall and saw a big metal Snowman sign. My wife said she would like to have something like it. I snapped a picture of it and set a reminder on my phone for July to give myself plenty of time to get one designed and built to surprise her for Christmas this year. Here's the sign I made for her. I had it ready by Thanksgiving so it could go up with the rest of the decorations. In the picture that showed some of my design processes, you can see the original sign. The letters and snowman are cut out of wood and then wrapped with sheet metal. I painted the metal to look like old galvanized steel and then after painting the letters and snowman I did some faux painting to add some aging and rust.

I've built a few barn doors in common styles but I would like to do something with a more modern feel. If you have a swinging door that's always in the way but didn't think a barn door would fit your decor, let me know and I'll help you come up with a sleek-looking rolling door.

I built this Nelson style bench for a customer to add some interest to their entryway. We switched things up a little from the original by making the legs out of metal with a black patina finish.

This is a desk I custom built and painted for my oldest son. It started with a wood frame, similar to the metal frame of a real wing, and is wrapped in sheet metal.

Remember last winter when you said you needed to come up with a solution for all of those coats and gloves? Where are you putting them this year?

Hey everybody! I wanted to give an update on what I’ve been up to in my business. For the past 4 years I've been working on some really large projects. I built two custom homes along with a barn for each. Then I completed a large main floor remodel out of state. The builds and remodel went really well and the homeowners are happily settled into their new spaces. Now, I'm excited to say, I'm back to working in my shop, focusing on cabinetry and furniture projects. I enjoy these types of projects the most because I feel they give me more opportunities to put my skills and creativity to work.

Since my schedule has been occupied by such large projects for the last several years, I've lost touch with many of the people who are looking for custom cabinetry and furniture, and would really appreciate your help getting in touch with anyone who may be interested. If you know anyone who is planning some home improvements and might need something like new kitchen cabinets, a built-in or mudroom lockers, or a custom furniture piece like a table, bedroom furniture or media console, please pass along my information to them. Also I'll be working on building up my online presence on Facebook, Instagram, my website, and Google. Please keep an eye out for my progress and interact with me or my posts. Thanks!

David

We built the top of this table using floor joist we reclaimed from an old farm house that we remodeled several years ago. All of the knots and nail holes have been filled with a colored epoxy, making the top easy to clean while bringing out all the character these defects add to the top. The stain on the top is a medium brown and it has been top coated with 4 coats of polyurethane. The base is made from solid Fir painted charcoal gray and top coated with a dull lacquer.

The nightstands and dresser have started the 8 coat finishing process that will give them a smooth, gloss white lacquer finish. Here, I'm test fitting the drawer front on the dresser, which will be a rustic barn wood.
