DESIGN SOLUTION OF THE WEEK
Many homeowners love the idea of dark paint colors but worry that the room will feel smaller, gloomy, or overwhelming.
The secret is balance.
In this project, deep olive walls create richness, intimacy, and architectural presence. Rather than fighting the dark walls, we embraced them and carefully layered lighter furnishings, natural textures, warm wood tones, and thoughtfully placed lighting to create contrast throughout the space.
Notice how the light sofa, soft drapery panels, warm wood furnishings, and natural woven shades work together to keep the room feeling bright, inviting, and comfortable.
Dark colors don’t have to make a room feel dark.
When properly balanced, they can actually make a space feel more sophisticated, cozy, and visually interesting while allowing artwork, furnishings, and architectural details to stand out.
One of the most rewarding parts of interior design is helping clients move beyond what they think won’t work and showing them what is possible when every element is intentionally considered.
Have you ever considered using a darker color in your home, or do you prefer light and airy spaces?
