Double sinks jumped 17 points in Houzz's 2026 bathroom study. Before you follow the trend, here is what the second sink costs you.
Chris and Jessica read the 2026 U.S. Houzz Bathroom Trends Study from the cabinet side: vanities getting wider, double sinks becoming the default, outlets being built into the vanity, and the colors people actually chose. Then they put each trend next to the plumbing code, a manufacturer's spec book and the owners who already live with it.

SHOW NOTES:
Houzz surveyed 1,619 U.S. homeowners on its site in August 2026. Vanities over 72 inches rose to 21 percent of upgrades, up 7 points, while 48 inches or less is still the largest group at 37 percent. 64 percent of homeowners who upgraded their sinks ended up with two, up 17 points. 32 percent of upgraded vanities have a built-in electrical outlet, up 7.
How wide does a double vanity need to be? Under the 2018 International Residential Code wording, each sink centerline sits at least 15 inches from a side wall and 30 inches from the next fixture, so two sinks need 60 inches between side walls. Codes vary: South Carolina uses 27 inches between fixtures, and Oklahoma's amended 2024 code applies the 30-inch spacing only to toilets, urinals and bidets. For comfort, a design rule of thumb is 72 inches with the sinks 36 inches apart.
What a second sink costs: on Fabuwood's 60-inch Allure vanity, the single-sink version has six drawers in two stacks 14 1/2 inches wide, and the double keeps three in one stack 11 1/2 inches wide.
Outlets: the 2018 IRC already allows the required bathroom outlet on the side or face of the vanity. A drawer interior is not on that list, so in-drawer power is an extra. Fabuwood's vanity outlet organizer is rated 12 amps, or 1,440 watts.
What color bathroom vanity is most popular in 2026? Wood tones, at 31 percent, ahead of white at 19 and blue at 10. Paint is still the most common finish at 38 percent. Built-in vanities took 62 percent, freestanding 25 and floating 13.
