Incredible evening this weekend at the inaugural gala to support The Furniture Bank of Houston.
The Furniture Bank is a little known, but very powerful organization on a mission to ensure no child in Houston sleeps on the floor and helping those in need to furnish empty homes. Partnering with over 82 social service agencies, the Furniture Bank has served over 30,000 families, 100,000 individuals, and recycled over 120,000 mattresses in the Greater Houston area.
This organization was founded nearly thirty years ago through a partnership formed between my late grandfather, Edward "Jodie" Hoffer, and the ever forceful powerhouse, Oli Mohammed. Tirelessly, they worked together to build the Furniture Bank into the organization it is today, along with the support of so many of the other "first furniture families" of Houston.
We were so grateful to be representing both sides of our furniture family (the Hoffers / Hoffer Furniture and the Fingers / Finger Furniture) as some of the inaugural honorees, along with the Wolff family of Star Furniture.
Thank you to all who came and contributed to the event, silent auction, and live auction to support this organization, as well as to co-chairs Francie Willis & Bernie Falco for bringing this beautiful organization into the spotlight of Houston's amazing philanthropic community.
Plus, we had some extra fun adding a bit of sparkle to the auction with some of our Astros goodies from Tibby’s Tidbits!
