I get the feeling that window shades get a bad wrap, and are associated with office buildings, hospitals, apartments, and builder grade construction. But these manual roller window shades at the Stanley Hotel support an important point: luxary hotels, historic buildings, offices, and custom homes all use roller shades not because they are inexpensive, but because they are the most discrete way to manage daylight while preserving the architecture.
