So, as you can see, there is nothing glamorous about my finishing process. I simply find an open spot on my messy garage floor, kneel on the concrete and wipe my satin finish on. Now repeat this 2 more times and I’m done.
Plus, if you notice, I’ve started my eastern rec cedar trees. These 9 are already sold and are actually three of my 3 piece sets that I make. I also will sell singles, but the 3 piece sets are very popular. And, as many of you know if you follow me, these are my nemesis. I struggle making these. I have to be very exact with sizing in the sets since they are different heights. More thought and planning versus making a bowl. Making a bowl just happens-no real concept in mind. The piece of wood tells me what it wants to become. The trees, very different thought process and turning skills are needed.
Also in the picture are the first few ash bowls for a church group up in Menomonie, WI. The church had quite a few ash trees on their property that were killed from the Emerald Ash Borer. They decided to have me make a bunch of bowls for their members. Thanks to Jayne and David for bringing me the wood and for passing along my name. It’s a very cool custom job.
It’s been a year of custom turning for our business. I am going to be very limited in my actual Artisan Fairs this year. Artspire in June will be my first show. I will also have another in November in Chippewa Falls. I’m hoping for another in October. So, that’s going to be about it.
If there is anything your interested in, please contact me through this page or call me at +16083049251. If you want trees, get a hold of me sooner than later. I have a very limited supply of cedar and I usually sell out by the end of November.
Have a great weekend.
