Here are a few photos.

All the photos on the left are very representative of how my dominant / left shoulder has felt for the last several years when I use it spraying finishes, sanding tables, stripping finishes, etc.

Over the last 12+ years, I have listened very closely to what all my customers have requested and done my best to do exactly what they have asked. However, I have not been listening to what my body has been trying to tell me.

This past January I had surgery to repair 2 hernias probably from lifting heavy furniture. As soon as I could get back to work, I did. And I hit my shop hard. I have been working off a 6-8 month waiting list since the quarantine almost 3 years ago and been very blessed with lots of work.

This past Fall, I realized I could no longer keep up with my workload. The 6-8 month lead time for my joblist had creeped up to almost a year. All the while, the pain in my shoulder, while working, was becoming intolerable.

Now, I am going to listen to what my body is telling me. It needs a break. This coming Saturday, I am having shoulder surgery. I plan to rest and let it heal. When I return in a few months, I will not be doing any heavy lifting anymore. I'm not getting younger, but the furniture is getting heavier!

This custom TV stand was built by a customer of mine. Made from scraps, there was 4 different species of wood used. The goal was to get a consistent "dark grey brown with a hint of red" color throughout. After a lot of test samples, I ended up layering colors between sealer coats before top coating with lacquer. There was actually 10 steps in the finish schedule for this custom color.

Here we have some crown molding that tore off a cabinet. The old molding was replaced with new and color matched.

84" long x 40" wide x 1" thick solid maple. Legs were shipped from Belgium. Not my normal type of work, but this was a lot of fun!

Here is the follow up to a previous post. These theater seats are from the Paramount Theatre built in 1901 at 509 Front St. Brainard, MN. This is where the movie Fargo was based. My customer and his father both worked at this theater before it closed and he was given the opportunity to have a set of seats.
After being moved several times and stored, the seats found there way to my shop where they were disassembled, cleaned, stripped, recovered by EPI's Interiors, handles refinished, and finally re-assembled to now rest in a foyer as a functional conversation piece.
