So we refinish neglected or well-loved pieces to acquire a new appearance or function.

This was a fun one to do and decided to keep it. I spent hours using Acetone to remove the finish and then sanding. Loved the grain so decided just to do a finish with Wise Owl furniture salve. Pictures start with finished product and work backwards.

Refinished for a friend. She is using it for more storage in the kitchen adding drawers, etc to it.

Long dresser, refinished in Sherwin-Williams Earl Grey with a Matte topcoat finish by General Finishes. A very practical piece which could be used as a dresser, buffet, etc. Hardware is new and newly refinished in a matte black. Drawers are newly lined except for the top middle drawer, which is still lined with the original, felt making it a useful drawer for jewelry or silverware. This piece is solid wood and very HEAVY.

72” w x 19” d x 36 1/2” ht.

Truth be told : this piece was difficult to move around to work on because of its weight. It is such a practical piece, but gave me a lot of hiccups along the way. Such as wanting to change the hardware, but I didn’t fill the holes, and therefore, didn’t realize it was such an unusual width. So I ended up using some of the original hardware, but then was short one. I had to search for a matching one online and paid way too much for one piece of hardware. Then I ran out of drawer lining paper which I use wallpaper. So then I had to wait to order some more to finish it. Needless to say this piece has sat and waited, but has also had time to cure so it is ready to go and is a very practical piece that can be used In many ways as long as you have the space and the muscle to move it.

Newly refinished in black with walnut stain on drawers. Drawers slide well and are reconditioned. Great and functional accent piece. Could be use alongside a sofa or a bedside table.

This was a fun little piece that need some repair and attention. Got it while helping a friend move her dads stuff from his home. Bet it has a story to tell.

This is a old, solid wood table newly refinished with a 52 inch diameter. This piece has personality and charm throughout, including the feet, which have all 4 working/rolling original casters. It has been refinished in SW Iron Ore, except for the bottom & front of feet finished off with a natural wax. The top has multiple coats of soft satin poly for durability. It does not have a leaf but could hold a leaf and has a metal locking system. Again, this is a piece that can outlast most of us, and brings character into a room.

NO LEAF - but could be added

Additional comments: I removed the veneer on the bottom and feet to find some beautiful charm. Part of the veneer was already gone so it made the decision easy but removing veneer this old is not an easy job! I am always amazed how they used to make furniture…..with strength and ability to last a lifetime. I also have come to believe pieces like this could endure a flood….might lose some veneer but the wood underneath would endure. Amazing the wheels all still work too…they give a charming sound with movement as well😊

And done! Started with General Finishes Java stain then added black gel stain on top, and finished with General Finishes matte topcoat. This was such a nasty piece but solid therefore grateful I kept it and spent some labor to refinish it. This one was destined for the the dump/pit but has been restored.

NASTY- That is the best word I know to describe this bookshelf. It came with the workshop and I have kept it bc it is sturdy and thinking I could experiment on it to use in the workshop again. BUT I am going beyond that and working on using it inside my home! Would not have thought possible with all the chemical and oil spills on it. Have sanded,sanded,& sanded + cleaned it + cut off the lower shelf (it was disgusting and I needed it shorter overall) + added an apron. Next will be the refinish🙌🏻

Gorgeous & Solid Chest of Drawers - This is such a beautiful piece. It is solid through and through. It is old and made with quality. This piece is so heavy and solid I could not get it out of my workshop to stage it for photos. So please plan accordingly for pickup if you want this piece.

Ok now for the details….refinished in General Finishes Coastal Blue and natural stained top all with Matte General Finishes topcoat. I believe this is made of mahogany wood…absolutely gorgeous! I cleaned up the hardware and left them as is which revealed varying looks of rose gold. Again gorgeous!

SOLD - This is a such a unique maple dresser (solid piece) refinished in a true white + matte General Finishes topcoat with matte black hardware. It has beautiful lines and is in great condition.
2 small drawers and 4 large drawers all are smooth and clean in the insides. Smoke free as well.

Dimensions: 36” w x 20” d x 48 3/4” h.
