In the 90's, many kitchens were designed with built in desks. The idea was that it would be a great place to sit and manage the household affairs. Then computers became a huge part of our lives, and people began to create separate office spaces in their homes for work and homework to take place.

Many clients have decided that this desk space in the kitchen could be better utilized by replacing the desk with a serving area, buffet, or even a bar area for entertaining. Below is a recent project we did. The granite top was re-purposed and became part of this handsome serving area with wine refrigerator and built-in microwave.

There's a Holliston home for sale right now that has a kitchen we built 30 years ago still intact. That's right: When we built these cabinets, Ronald Reagan was president, gas was $1.10 a gallon and John was 27.

This entertainment center was created to the customer's specifications using reclaimed wood to help give it the appearance of a antique cabinet.

By definition, reclaimed wood is a post-consumer resource, and has the weathering, wear marks, nail holes and stains, and other unique signs of its previous life as an Industrial Revolution-era mill, barn, water flume, even wine and beer vats and water storage tanks.

This custom piece transformed an entrance into a foyer, matching the existing floor inlay to make it look like it had always been there.
