Introducing Palette! 🎨

The student markerboard reimagined for today’s classrooms.

Student markerboards are an important tool for empowered and engaged learning. Research shows that integrating them into daily instruction increases participation, encourages critical thinking, and builds classroom community.

Palette’s simple, functional design is the result of careful classroom observations and intentional choices that help every creative mind flourish.

Over the past two years, we’ve been honored to collaborate with students and educators through the futurePREP’d program in West Michigan. Seeing students use Design Thinking to solve real-world problems centered around empathy, community, and belonging has been incredibly joyful and inspiring to say the least!

This past week, we were grateful to host a group of these wonderful educators for one of their evening planning sessions. We shared ideas, learned from one another, and discussed how Design Thinking shows up in our everyday work.

Thank you FuturePREPd Ottawa Area ISD for creating these opportunities to build community around our shared passions for design and supporting all students!

We have so much respect and admiration for everything that Kids' Food Basket does for our West Michigan Community. When we heard they were planning on creating an education center at their new Muskegon location, we knew we needed to find a way to help. We can't wait to see this space in action!

EDspaces is one of the most meaningful times of the year for our team.

It’s where our research, design, and purpose come together to show how thoughtful learning environments can make a real impact on the experiences of both students and educators.

This year’s booth focused on how we can create flexible and inclusive environments that support all students, with empathy towards social, emotional, neurodivergent, and physical differences. These ideas came to life through powerful applications of the industry-leading products we’ve spent the past eight years refining, as well as through our exciting new Supportive Spaces Collection.

We’re so grateful to everyone who stopped by to connect, share ideas, and dream about the future of learning environments.

The conversations left us feeling inspired and energized to keep building on this work. We truly feel like we’re creating something special here at Fleetwood, and we hope you can see that vision too.

If you couldn’t make it this year, stay tuned! We’ll be sharing more soon about the products and story behind this year’s booth.

Introducing the Calm Chair

Inspired by the success of the Calm Cubby™️ and our mission to make Supportive Spaces accessible to everyone, we designed the Calm Chair: a mobile regulation space that brings those same feelings of calm, safety, and sensory comfort to older students and adults.

This isn’t your ordinary lounge chair. Wrapped in tall, sound-dampening panels and a high-back cushion that flexes with you, the Calm Chair creates a sensory retreat that soothes the nervous system.

Whether you’re slouched deep in reflection, grounding against the firm yet comfortable panels, or sitting upright to focus, the Calm Chair adapts to whatever you need in the moment.

Built on Fleetwood’s signature welded frame with smooth-rolling casters, it’s easy to move through doorways, across rooms, or simply rotate away from distractions.

For the ultimate Supportive Spaces experience, pair the Calm Chair with a Mobile Wrap to create a space where the world feels quiet, calm, and entirely yours.

Privacy without isolation is a guiding idea behind Supportive Spaces.

The new Double Mobile Wrap makes this easy by creating sensory-friendly areas for two or more people. Use it while supporting a student to offer privacy, build confidence, and reduce anxiety. Let a small group turn two of them into their own focused study room.

Despite its effectiveness at creating large private spaces, the Double Mobile Wrap maintains a minimal footprint. So, it can sit patiently off to the side until that extra support is needed. Thanks to its welded steel frame and soft rolling casters, moving it into position is smooth and easy.

There are endless possibilities for how to use the Mobile Wrap. It’s all about giving every learner the right kind of space, exactly when they need it.

How will you use the Mobile Wrap?

Blending Smart Design, Neuroscience, and Real-World Functionality

Introducing the Mobile Wrap.

Students learn best when they feel safe, secure, and supported. This can look different for every learner, as each has their own sensory needs and preferences.

We designed the Mobile Wrap to be a mobile, sensory-friendly Supportive Space that uses virtually no additional footprint and offers endless flexibility. Its strong structure and sound-absorbing privacy panels help foster feelings of safety and reduce sensory overwhelm. The robust welded frame allows it to be moved through doorways, change orientation in space, and hold up to a lifetime of use.

Serving as an open canvas, it empowers educators and students to find creative solutions to everyday challenges. Use the Mobile Wrap on its own, with existing furniture, or with other Supportive Spaces products.

We’ve already identified countless applications for its use, and we know schools will inspire us with many more.
