I’m pleased and honored to share that last week, at the South Beach Film Festival, our film received the award for Best Cinematography.

I am incredibly proud of our Director, Leigh-Ann Beverley, who approached the making of this film with patience, artistic sensitivity, and a clear vision for conveying the complexity of our work in a deliberate and cinematic way. Her attention to framing, composition, and lighting in every shot was unwavering throughout the process.

This award belongs to her and to her unique artistic vision. I am deeply grateful for her dedication and proud of what she achieved in bringing our film to life.

Im honored to share that our full-length documentary film, The Madness of Moonlight, has been officially selected for the 2026 South Beach Film Festival.

This film has been a deeply personal journey for me and my team of master craftspeople. It is especially meaningful to have it recognized by a festival dedicated to elevating culture, creativity, and diverse voices. Being included in a program that celebrates storytelling as a bridge between communities makes this moment all the more significant as our film is about our greatest single piece, built in partnership with Bösendorfer in Vienna.

I am grateful to the film team who made this possible and excited to share the film, spark meaningful conversation, and be part of the cultural energy this festival is building.

Moonlight represents a bridge across the Atlantic—where the great musical heritage of Europe meets the ingenuity, precision, and creative force of the United States. Its voice was born in Vienna, but through 9,000 hours of hand craftsmanship, its full expression—its form, its presence, its realization—has been shaped by American hands, at the highest level of craftsmanship.
Through the vision of Pollaro, this instrument becomes more than a piano—it becomes a statement of American art, creativity, and uncompromising excellence.
It stands as a symbol of American craftsmanship at its finest, and of the enduring bond between nations united not only by history, but by the pursuit of greatness.

Thanks to Jeremy Seysses, of Pollaro was invited to be a sponsor of the Vin et Hip Hop events in Los Angeles this week. Jeremy conceived this event with Jay Z and many other friends in both the wine and Hip Hop communities. The idea was to bring these two passionate groups together. Not a bad idea; a great idea!

We were delighted to meet many Hip Hop artists, producers and musicians and to drink wine, talk about life, and party with international wine makers from France, Italy, and the USA. One thing is for sure, the Hip Hop community knows how to party!!

We had some wildly interesting conversations about music, wine, humble beginnings, dreams and hard work. Some of my favorite subjects. We talked about surrounding yourself with good people and all sorts of shared passions.

I went into this knowing very little about Hip Hop music and I emerged a genuine fan. I am looking forward to the next Vin et Hip Hop event which will take place in Brooklyn next spring.

I would like to send my sincere gratitude to the entire Hip Hop community and also to the talented wine makers who brought their best offerings. It was among the most interesting and rewarding experiences of my life. I’m delighted to join the club!

This Thanksgiving, we lost a very dear family friend, after a long illness. She was a bright shining light that could never be replaced. Her husband asked me to make a wooden urn to hold her ashes. It was the greatest honor of my life to make this piece. I chose Alaskan cedar for is gentle grain and blonde color. A lot like Kathy. As I started to turn, the shape of an egg came to mind. An egg represents the origin of all life, and a safe, warm, nurturing place. I would like to think that Kathy will be happy inside.

This is also the first time that I turned a deep hollow vessel. It was challenging and also inspiring to think that my dear friend would be lovingly held within.

Thank you to her family for giving me this greatest honor to make this sacred turning. I will be forever grateful.

Tonight I attended the 20th Anniversary Gala of the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco . My dear friend Nora Atkinson is the Executive Director of the museum. Her work here is just beginning and she is off to a roaring start. But this is not new territory for her, for the past decade, as the curator-in-charge, she transformed the face of the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery in Washington DC, where her shows broke attendance records.

The venue of tonight’s stylish celebration was the Saint Joseph’s Arts Society, an utterly stunning architectural interior which was originally a church. The venue could not have been better matched to the evening. The space was lit perfectly and the crowd was lively. The bears were my favorite part!

If you are in San Francisco, a trip to the museum is essential. I can’t wait to see the new life Nora will bring to this museum.

Over a period of five years, we devoted 3,000 hours to hand hammering the metal surfaces on Moonlight. My concept was to pay homage to the hammered silverwork of the Wiener Werkstatte and specifically the work of Josef Hoffmann. His use of this surface treatment always yielded precious pieces.

The metal is an alloy of nickel and copper which provides a warm glow when hand sanded to 2,000 grit. The metal, once struck with a custom made tool, renders a surface that dances in the light.

In the end, we spent over 9,000 hours on this piano, with the goal of making every surface beautiful, tactile, and a delight to the eye.

This is the best example of what can be produced with the human hand and a testament to the method of my company over the past 36 years.

This week, in the company of 200 of our closest clients and friends, we unveiled our masterpiece of a lifetime - Moonlight. The creation of our final art case piano began in 2018 when I approached the oldest and greatest piano maker in the world, Bösendorfer, which is headquartered in Vienna. Together, over a period of six years, and 9,000 hours, Moonlight was born.

Black lacquer, a touchpoint to the heritage of the Bösendorfer grand piano architecture, is adorned with nickel, black onyx and the warmth of Narra wood. We invested three thousand hours in the metalwork, including two thousand hours of hand chasing. The result conjures the spirit of the silver work of the Wiener Werkstätte. This is a piece with a unique soul and a virtuosity born from the passion and heritage of both Pollaro and Bösendorfer.

The dream of Moonlight was to produce the finest piece of art Pollaro has ever created. More than any that came before, this project gave Pollaro’s master craftspeople the singular opportunity to display the full breadth of their unique skills honed over a lifetime. Our furniture makers, metalworkers, stoneworkers, and finishers to work in concert to produce the most detailed piece in our 36-year history. Far more than a piano or sculpture alone, Moonlight is a piece of multi-sensory art that illuminates every space with its presence, bringing delight to the eye, the hand, and the ear.

Moonlight’s journey from inception through five years of production, was recorded in our full length documentary film which will be released in 2025. You can see a clip of the film on our website next week. The film will be accompanied by a commemorative book that tells the story of this magical piece of art and craftsmanship.

Tonight, on my way back from Lana’i, I was greeted by Captain Chandra of United flight 2141 to Newark to congratulate me for crossing one million lifetime miles!! He presented me with a card signed by the crew team along with a Million Miler coin!! A very warm greeting, and it couldn’t be nicer on my final leg home from a long trip.

Thanks to United, and now on to Two Million Miles!!!!
