Thank you to everyone that has donated for the 29 Days of Giving Challenge! The window is filling up! Today is a drop off day. Shannon and Piper are at the store all day today!
Highmore Furniture and Carpetland is hosting its annual 29-day giving challenge to help people who are struggling financially during this holiday season. From Nov. 26 through Dec. 24, people are asked to donate one item for each day or make a monetary gift for the 29 day giving period. The giving challenge starts with the Thanksgiving holiday and runs until Christmas Eve. All items donated will be placed in the north window at Highmore Furniture, in an effort to fill that space with donated items to help families in the area this holiday season. It is hoped the window space will be filled with shampoo, cream rinse, paper products, laundry products, toothpaste, tooth brushes, facial tissue and products, cleaning products, garbage bags, dish soap, deodorant, diapers, wipes, shaving cream, toilet tissue, personal feminine products, pet food, pet supplies, etc. These are items that those who receive food stamps cannot purchase through the program. Items most needed are toilet paper, hand soap and laundry detergent. After the challenge is complete the items will be taken to the Hyde County Food Pantry for distribution to the over forty families who use the food pantry each month. This year donations can be dropped off on November 26th & 27th, the evening of Dec 2nd, or all day Dec 3rd or 23. Items can also be dropped off or picked up by texting or calling Dwight at 605-870-1065. Checks for monetary donations (which are tax deductible) may be written to Knights of Columbus. They will match $100 for every $500. Monetary donations may be mailed to Highmore Furniture, Box 401, Highmore, SD 57345. The challenge to the people of Hyde County is to fill that area with as many items as possible – all in an effort to help local families. It is an easy way to give to the community this holiday season.
