The Wood Shop volunteers built this dining/craft table from all recycled pallet and lumber wood previously used in containers for shipping products. The imperfections of the lumber provide for a distressed finished product, while the shop’s planer and jointer provide uniform thickness and straight edges on the pallet boards chopped to variable lengths. Glued to a plywood type base, brads to secure, the pallet wood top is sanded again and then stained and polyurethaned. Pocket holes are drilled into the frame to affix it to the table top, a Taper Jig used to cut the tapered legs. The legs are bolted to the frame with bolts possibly 60 years old we found in the building - the former hunting and fishing shop. This table is 59” by 39” and will soon be moved to a new home for refugees. Over the next few weeks we will be building more of them.

Jackie Watters has been volunteering in the woodshop, and today assembled this custom planter designed by Tim McNeilly using pallet wood donated by McNeilly Wood Products. Tromero, a new Greek restaurant coming to Highland Park, ordered a dozen planters for their outdoor seating area, to enhance Raritan Avenue.
