LAKE + WELLS Lake + Wells is a Chicago-based design firm that produces artisan-made furniture, lighting, and acce Glass forms are mouth-blown and molded.

Born in Chicago, Lake + Wells Studio brings stories to life in artisan-made furniture, lighting, and objects. Marrying age-old, living materials and hand-crafted methodologies with modern elements and technology, the husband-and-wife studio’s principle desire is to discerningly bring forth fresh, evocative designs in timeless form. Every element of every piece undergoes painstaking iterative devel

opment in collaboration with hand-picked artisans and fabricators - each chosen for their technique and mastery. Metal elements, such as brass and copper, are machined or hand-hammered, and custom finished. Crystals are individually cut and polished. Aluminum structures are anodized in small batches to draw out beautiful satin finishes. Concrete bases are cast and then stained. These classic techniques result in pieces that are imbued with just enough hand-touched imperfection to make each one subtly unique and purposefully one-of-a-kind. Every piece is made to order and available exclusively through Lake + Wells and select partners.

PREFACE | High Point Exhibit 2025

With each final totem brought to life in our studio, we seek to capture a pivotal moment, prerequisite to any meaningful story, and transform it into a physical artifact, accompanied by a fragment of prose from the imagined tale of origin. In exploring this evocative intersection of reality and fantasy, it feels fitting to juxtapose and exhibit the resulting ethereal, contemporary forms of our lighting alongside private collection relics of times past - like architectural salvage from the Chicago Theatre stage, or columns from a bank, or well-traveled metal trunks. This boutique installation, tucked inside a jewelry box corner of a charming factory space explores the pursuit of our studio: to translate intangible stories into tangible objects - remnants of a future past - which nod to times and spaces of the past, present, and future.
