We are proud to present the latest addition to our portfolio of creative wildlife themed upholstery, honoring the hunting adventure, the hunted and the hunter. The ottoman top features the wide range of scales on the crocodile hide, from the armored “scutes” on top, to the smother scales on the belly. The remaining ten foot tail section was artistically applied to the perimeter of the ottoman.

What an amazing adventure this crocodile ottoman represents. Everyone involved has a wonderful story to tell. What a privilege it is for the talented artisans to have a story to tell also.

Collaboration with the client on his custom one of a kind ottoman is an important step in the creative design process. Our recommendation was to craft a 38” diameter ottoman, with the crocodile hide placement for the top illustrated here. With client approval for this initial phase, we are ready for the fun part. What to do with the other 10 feet of the hide?

The creative design process begins by evaluating the giant crocodile hide for possible use on a rectangular upholstered ottoman. While the area outlined shows the beautiful range of the crocodile’s scales, it is obvious that its use is limited. Where is the design direction hiding in plain sight?

What an adventure this will be!

The Nile Crocodile is the largest predator in Africa. Recently, we received a commission to design and craft a rectangular upholstered ottoman using the client’s African crocodile hide. What we did not anticipate was the enormous 14 foot hide received for the commission.

The Porter Chair was a chair designed for a specific purpose in medieval England. It was placed by the front door of castles or large estates for use by the porter or gatekeeper to announce guests whose knock might not otherwise have seen heard. Its unique shape helped to reduce the cold winter chill.

Today, a pair the Porter chairs with a cocktail ottoman, designed to hold a serving tray and two drink stands for that special beverage, create a personal gathering place to enjoy each other’s company.

We just completed these signature hooded chairs going to a hunting lodge in Texas. They represent a unique design style and combination of upholstery materials selected by their talented interior designer and the workmanship our skilled artisans. I look forward to seeing the project completed.
