Jeff Davis 4-H had a successful showing at the 2026 Georgia National Fair in Perry, Georgia. Nine 4-H’ers participated in the Georgia Living Youth Educational Exhibits. Sadie Jo Brewer and Kairi Padgett competed in the Decorated Ag Product contest. Peyton Carter, Rachel Patterson, Lily Ann Crosby, Jae’Lah Sanders, and Amy Miller participated in the Recycling contest. Saylor Grace Woodcock and Delaney Harrell competed in the Terrarium/Dish Garden contest. Livestock Exhibition is another major part of the Georgia National Fair. Sadie Jo Brewer, Carleigh Brewer, and Lily Ann Crosby competed in the Swine Show, and Piper Woodcock participated in the Cattle Show. Sadie Jo placed 6th in class with her Crossbred Gilt, 5th in class with her Yorkshire Barrow, and 4th in class with her Crossbred Gilt. Carleigh placed 3rd in 9th grade Showmanship, 7th in class with her Yorkshire Gilt, 4th in class with her Yorkshire Barrow, and 3rd in class with her Crossbred Barrow. Lily Ann was the 5th Grade Showmanship Champion, Reserve Champion in the All Other Breeds division, and had the GA Bred Show - Grand Champion Berkshire Breeding Gilt as well as a 3rd overall Duroc. During the first weekend, Piper Woodcock was 3rd in 8th Grade Showmanship and had the Champion High % Simmental. During the second weekend of GA National Fair Jr. Invitational, Piper was 8th Grade Showmanship Champion, and had the Reserve Charolais, the Champion Simmental, and the Overall Reserve Grand Champion. Jeff Davis 4-H is extremely proud of all those that competed at this year’s Georgia National Fair. ATTENTION !!!! If you are baling peanut hay that you plan to feed cows you need to sample it. With the dry weather we had nitrates can be high and cause major problems even death in cattle. Stop by the Extension office to get sampling instructions and borrow a probe.

On Wednesday, Jeff Davis 4-H had our October Clovers After School for 5th grade 4-H'ers led by our middle school and high school teen leaders! We created our own colorful spider webs, went on a monster hunt, conducted some science with candy bars kindly provided by our friends at Farm Bureau, and made our best toilet paper mummies. Our next Clovers After School will be on November 18th! Please call the 4-H office to sign up at (912) 375-6648.

Jeff Davis 4-H provides opportunities for youth to learn by doing in the focus areas of agriculture, science, civic engagement, leadership, health, and wellness. Youth can participate in 4-H through in-school and after-school programs, community events, project work, and summer camping experiences. Adult mentors provide guidance and encourage 4-H’ers to take on proactive leadership roles as they work to make the best better. Your voluntary feedback is an important part of evaluating and improving our program. This survey is designed to help us understand the program's strengths, identify areas for improvement, and determine how well the program meets participants' needs and expectations. Your responses will help inform future program development and ensure that our educational experiences continue to provide meaningful opportunities for 4-H'ers. Thank you for sharing your feedback.
