Shady Grove is a unique location for a rehearsal dinner, outdoor wedding, indoor/outdoor wedding reception, fundraiser or gathering. It is located near Hazlehurst, MS, approximately 30 minutes from Jackson. It is the ultimate “Southern Venue”
featuring an 1892 Acadian Greek Revival farmhouse furnished with antiques and located on two and half acres of tree shaded lawn. dogtrot entrance hall, heart pine and oak flooring, a formal living room, a dining area, a tavern room and sunroom, a piano room, and a large kitchen/keeping room and den. Outside there is a front and side porch, a deck, a garden area, a gazebo, and a brick-walled pool and patio area for comfortable outdoor seating. These areas as well as the outbuildings indicative of the era (i.e. smokehouse, potato house, and well house) offer unique photo backdrops. In March the draping wisteria, azaleas, and bridal wreath are breathtaking. The most common remark from guests is, “This feels like home.”
Accommodations: The indoor/outdoor venue will comfortably accommodate 200 or more guests. Tents and chairs can be rented and set up for seating guests, socializing, and dining in the event of inclement weather. The formal dining room, tavern, and sunroom are excellent to display and serve the bride or groom’s cake. Unique feature of Shady Grove:
Shady Grove does not require that you use an in house caterer, wedding coordinator, floral arranger, or bartender. We will, however, be happy to assist you with the provision of these services and/or make recommendations. Provisions for catering
The “Maison Rouge” or little red house is a small outdoor kitchen that can be used by the caterer to simplify the preparation and provision of food. It houses a refrigerator, cook stove, and kitchen sink in additional to a large center work table. Adequate parking is available. Alcohol: Bring your own. Smoking is allowed in designated area outside only. Insurance: Special event insurance is required. Wedding amenities: Dressing area for bride and groom as well as unique photo sites
