Well we have hit summer in the south (HOT) plants are growing, grass needs cut every week and once in awhile we get a afternoon shower. Its enough to keep things green and to cool off the evenings but is it enough to protect your foundation? This is the time of year that most foundation settlement begans to occur., check around your home for the soil pulling away from the home its a sign the soil is to dry. If you have a sprinkler system run the flower beds twice a day for about 20 mins, if not than a soaker hose placed around your foundation (about 20" from) and turned on twice a day at a slow seep for 20 mins will help slow down the drying process. Thank the good Lord for the beautiful weather, but most foundation settlement occurs during the dry hot months so please look for drying cracks in the soil next to your home and in the yard (the soil pulling away from the home) although our soil is still holding water if the heat continues it will dry fast at the first sign of drying add water around your home...a soaker hose is the most common method...turn it on to a slow seep and let it run for about 15/20 mins...temps over 95 degrees and the water may need to be increased to twice a day...

I was suprised when I first moved to Hattiesburg at the number of basements in the pinebelt. Over the years I have chosen to just advise on what to do about water entering the basement, Now however we are offering both an interior repair and an exterior repair depending on the homes needs. Its Tax day once again but on the bright side we should have some GREAT weather the next few days. A quick reminder to walk around your home at least once a month to check the corners of doors and windows brick for tailtell signs of cracking, we are getting into the season when things start moving around...Have a great Day....Rick

With all the beautiful flowers and green grass comes the rain please take the time to check around your foundation for ponding water and soil erosion both of which can lead to major foundation problems...be proactive before a promblem occurs.
