I wasn't going to address this, but I think it's worth saying.
Someone commented that I was a narcissist because I shared several photos after getting my hair done.
Here's what you don't know...
If you've followed me for any length of time, you know I rarely post pictures of myself these days and I almost never do videos. The truth is, I still struggle with self-confidence. I was the overweight kid growing up, and the names I was called stuck with me far longer than they should have. Those experiences made me stronger, gave me thick skin, and are a big part of why I have zero tolerance for bullies. But they also left scars that don't just disappear. That's not something I've ever admitted publicly.
Those photos? They were a big deal for me. I hadn't had my hair professionally done in over 20 years, and I've never really colored my hair as an adult professionally and i was excited. I felt good about myself, and I wanted to share that moment.
Then another woman called me a narcissist.
Shame on you for trying to tear another woman down for feeling good about herself. Maybe it comes from your own insecurities, or maybe you simply don't understand what that word means. Either way, you brought that label to the wrong person.
There is a huge difference between being narcissistic and being excited enough to share a few pictures after doing something for yourself for the first time in decades.
I'm not ashamed that I felt beautiful that day. Everyone deserves to have moments where they feel good about themselves without being criticized for it.
So no... I'm not a narcissist. I'm just someone who's finally learning that it's okay to celebrate myself once in a while. And I hope more women learn to cheer each other on instead of tearing each other down. 💗
